I always thought it was funny, the way time worked.
How someone could be laughing, crying, or even screaming at one moment and then smiling and dancing in the next. Their lungs could be inhaling the sweet, tasteless air we take for granted in one moment and then their whole existence could be sucked into oblivion in seconds.
In a heartbeat, someone's life, as quickly as it came into this world, can be taken away. And when that happens all the moments and memories that you've ever made with them will be meaningless because they will never be enough. Nothing will ever be enough to fill the void in your heart created by their absence. By definition, they're gone but aren't they really still here? Yes, their body is still here. Their organs still intact, their blood still flowing through every vein yet by definition they are gone.
Dead.
And yet, the sun would still rise the next day, the world would continue to go on, completely oblivious to bodies left behind. That's why I always thought it was funny; I mean, isn't it weird how your life could fall apart in a matter of seconds? How in one moment everything you've ever worked for and loved could disappear because of one wrong decision.
