Bulletproof (Josh Dun)

TWENTY TWO

"Josh come here, it's almost time!" I called from the couch with my computer in front of me.

Jenna and I had scheduled a Skype-call for tonight after exchanging a few messages, so me and Josh had stayed home to wait for their call.

"I'm coming, I'm coming" Josh said and hurried over with a plate of chocolate chip cookies in his hand. "What? I was hungry?"

I laughed at him while grabbing a cookie from the plate, and turned my focus to the computer which suddenly started to beep.

"Now!!" I squeeled and clapped my hands before pressing the button, and we immediately saw Tyler and Jenna on the screen.

"Hiiii" they laughed and waved from the other side of the ocean, and me and Josh waved back.

"Oh my god you look so tanned already!" I gasped when I saw Tyler's tanned arms around Jenna's shoulders.

"The weather here is amazing!" They confessed. They were sitting on some kind of patio with the forest behind them.

"So how are you guys? Have you burnt down the place yet Lexie?" Tyler joked.

"Are you saying I'm a bad cook?" I laughed. "I'm actually staying here, with Josh while you're gone"

"Oh" Tyler tried to sound surprised but I was pretty sure they had done nothing but talking about us while they were gone.

"Yeah I kind of got robbed and lost my key to your apartment" I mumbled as an excuse, trying to make them believe that was the only reason I slept at Josh's, but honestly I would probably have done it either way, and they already knew that.

"WHAT?! Are you okay? What happened?" Jenna gasped with a horrified look on her face.

"I'm fine" I reassured them. "He only got my bag, nothing happened"

"Oh my god sweetie" she sighed, still worried about me.

"Don't worry, I'll protect her from now on" Josh cut her off, leaning into the camera and wiggling his eyebrows, which of course made Tyler laugh.

"Josh, you're our hero" Jenna said and put her hands to her chest and I could see her face changing.

"There's so much stuff to see and do here! Yesterday we swam with wild dolphines!"

Jenna and Tyler took turns telling us the exciting stories about their hike in the forest, all the cute animals they've seen and the long white beaches they used to spend their days on.

I can't say I wasn't jealous, and I hoped me and Josh would be able to do a trip on our own some day. We never really went away together, always stayed close to home.

"Okay we gotta go, we've got dinner reservations" Jenna said after checking the time.

We said goodbye and I closed the computer off with a sigh.

"What's wrong?" Josh looked at me surprised.

"Nothing's wrong, I'm just a little jealous of them you know? I want to go on a vacation too but I could never afford it"

Josh grabbed me by my waist and pulled me down on the couch with his arms around me.

"I'll take you around the world someday" he whispered into my ear. "Promise"

The birds were humming peacefully outside when I strolled the streets to Tyler and Jenna's apartment.
