Chapter 3

H I S  N A M E  D O E S  F I T  H I M

The next day mom shows up in my room and throws clothes on me.

"Get up! We have company coming over!" She yells and runs around my room, picking things out. I grumble and shuck the clothes off of my bed, not used to the extra weight.

"Quinn! Stop! We have guests coming over in two minutes!" She yells and shucks the covers off of me.

"No! Why are people coming over for breakfast?!" I shriek into my pillow.

"Breakfast? Its dinner time!" Mom yells and leaves my room. I sit up rapidly.

"What?!" I cry to no one, but the thin air. I stand up and figure this must be a dude for mom, and I need to look good. I won't eat the dinner, no, it's a date with mom and some guy. Most likely. I look around and spot a black and short dress on the floor. I recoil in horror, wondering if my mom truly is evil and wants me to suffer in a dress. Blah. Enter the throw up.

Instead of actually dressing up, I grab ripped jeans, and a white V-Neck, just to annoy my mom. I walk downstairs, and run a brush through my hair as I walk.

"You're getting hair all over the food!" Mom yells, and I look over scared she's having a heart attack. No, she's just picking a black hair out of the food and I shrug.

"It could be yours."

The doorbell rings and mom looks up like a puppy with her tail between her legs.

"Quinn, please grab that for me!" She yells as she runs up the stairs, probably to touch up a little more. I don't answer the door, and instead let it ring again. "Quinn!" Mom screams. I chuckle a little and walk over to the door as slow as I can.

Opening the door, I'm welcomed by the strong scent of perfume and something delicious.

"Oh! You must be Quinn!" Some woman screams, and I recognize her from the woman yesterday in the doorway when I was getting water for Andrew-or babe, yeah no more babe. Shivering from the thought, I hug the woman back. Her long black hair, much like mine, hangs over my arms and her eyes have a warm glow.

"It's a little cold today, isn't it?" The woman asks, thinking I shivered from the cold.

"Yeah. It is."

"Yeah. So, wheres your mom?"

I look up the stairs as the woman walks in, followed by a man who looks very scary. His eyebrow is pierced and he has tattoos covering his arms. His eyes are a scary yellow and he has a beard growing on his face, looking like Iron Mans beard.

"She's upstairs getting ready." I say, staring at the man.

"Oh okay. Well, this is my husband, Jimmy, or usually goes by Jim." I smile and hold my hand out, hating how I'm following my mom's rules on how to be polite. As Jim shakes my hand, he looks out the door and closes it.

"Hello Jim. My name is Quinn."

"Hello Quinn."

I grin at him and walk over to the already set table. Name tags are on the plates, Jim, Wendy-I'm guessing the woman's name is Wendy. Then my mom's name is written on the furthest plate, on the end, and I spot mine on the other side of the table from Wendy, and Jim. I see another plate next to mine, but I ignore it as my mother walks down the stairs, looking like a supermodel in a sparkly red dress and matching heels. What the...? I can tell Wendy is getting self-conscious as she tears at her easy sweater. I can tell Wendy and I have the same type of dressing.
