You were sitting at the counter at Pop's, sipping a milkshake and reading a book when the dinner door swung open, revealing your ex-girlfriend, Cheryl. Your breakup was horrible, it was messy and aggressive, therefore it was best if you two would not talk to each other for some time.
You pretended not to notice her and stuck your nose into your book. She sat down next to you, 'ugh no,' you thought.
"Hey," she said gently.
"Hi," you said, smiling slightly. You stirred the leftover foam at the bottom of the tall glass.
"How are you?" Cheryl asked.
"I've been okay, I guess. You?" You politely nodded.
She didn't answer the question but seemed apologetic. "I-I-I miss you, I think."
You were taken aback by what she had said. "I do too. And that's why I think it's best if I leave right now." You quickly gathered your things, slammed down a few dollars and sped out of the dinner.
