When we reached the church my hands were sweaty and my breath ragged. As I once heard someone say I looked like a sinner in church on Sunday. Who knows that might just be exactly what I am because that's exactly where I am.

I follow along with what my dad does because we don't go to mass back home, we sit around and watch movies all day.

I sat at the pew and I started praying.

God if your there, if you care, if you even exist I pray you help me! I want to see my sweet Jimmy, I pray we can see each other!

After church we spent that day like Babbo and I normally do but that night as I headed to bed I started to think back to what Uncle Christian said about keeping the letters a secret...

I was lying in bed that night when it hit me!

Dear Romeo

I very dearly miss you, my Adonis, my ray of sun, my love. Every moment away from you is similar to a dagger right into my heart.  My father and I are staying here in Italy I fear I will never see the humble abode I call my home. This dreadful fact pains me inside, as I will not be able to see your handsome face, your simply dashing smile, or even your bright joyful eyes. I would just like to tell you that you truly are my love and the only thing alive that keeps me going. When I see you next, it will be a blessing, as it always is. I will be waiting, trying to be patient, for your next letter, my dear.

Til then, I will think of you constantly

Yours truly Juliet

I smiled at how well I fashioned the letter after the one Romeo sent to Juliet in the story. I folded it over and slipped it into an envelope then I placed it under my pillow ready for the sun to rise and the day to begin.

I lied awake waiting for the sun to rise. I became impatient and I got up slipping my letter into my pillow case and tiptoed down the stairs in hopes of finding a snack to tide over my nervousness. I reached the kitchen and headed to the fridge where I opened the door and pulled out the milk. I carried it to the table and pulled out my favorite cereal and a bowl. the bowl clinked against the stone counter top.

I grabbed a spoon from the drawer and headed to the table. I poured a bowl the sound of the hard cereal hitting against the bowl filled the room. I went to pour the milk when I heard someone yell at me. I didn't register what they were saying all I thought to do was scream. Next thing I know the lights are being thrown on and Babbo is keeping his guard from shooting me.

"Lei e' mia figlia!" Babbo yells pulling the gun from the mans hands and sliding it across the counter top.

Babbo comes to my side and holds me to his chest kissing my forehead. "Your safe now bambino, You are safe." Babbo tells me as he picks me up my cereal long forgotten. Babbo carries me up the stairs and to my room. He lays me in the bed and kisses my forehead. "Good night bambino." He says pulling the covers closer to me. He stands up and instead of leaving he grabs a chair from my room and sets it by my bed. "I am always here for you bambino." He tells me taking my hand as I drift away into sleep again.

A few hours later I woke up and Babbo was just putting the chair he had used back. "Morning Babbo." I say sitting up.

"Good morning, your cereal is still waiting." Babbo laughs kissing my forehead then leaving the room. I get up and head to the bathroom first brushing the nasty from my mouth then getting into the shower to get the left over mud and dirt off my skin. I walk from my bathroom to my closet and slip into a beautiful navy blue dress with white polka dots.

When I get down stairs Babbo smiles at me. "Ready for your first day of school?" Babbo asks. "What do you mean? I thought I was going back to America for my senior year Babbo." He nods sadly. "We aren't going back bambino." He tells me kissing my forehead. "Oh." I say nodding.

"Lets go, wouldn't want to be late for your first day." Babbo tells me leading me out to his car.
