He stepped out, and rushed up to me and embraced me, and the tears started streaming down my face again.

"Oh my god Lexie I'm so sorry" He said and kissed my hair.

"I don't know what happened" I sobbed into his jacket. "One minute he was grabbing me and then he was gone, I couldn't do anything"

"You shouldn't have done anything either" he calmed me. "You did great by calling me, now let's go"

He led me to his car and made sure I was confortable in the passenger seat before closing the door and going around to the other side.

"I don't have my keys" I mumbled, embarrased. We had just agreed on me not staying at his place and now I was locked out.

"Oh you're not going back to the apartment, you're staying with me" he reassured and put a hand on my thigh.

I blushed and looked down. Honestly, I was relieved I wouldn't have to spend the night alone after this.

"Before we go inside, there's something I need to tell you" Josh said while taking the keys from the ignition after parking outside his building.

He sighed barely audible and drummed his fingers against the steering wheel while doing everything to avoid my eyes.

"Victoria's here"

I frowned, and tried to grasp what he'd just said.

"Wait... what? Where? In your apartment?"

"Yeah... That's who I was with when you called, but we have unfinished bussiness so I told her to stay"

"Uhm..." I tried to think of anything to say but the only thing that filled my mind was images of her and Josh in his bed, from the night when I caught them playing their little lying game.

"I know it's messed up and I should have told you, but she's only here because she's in trouble" Josh tried to explain but I could barely hear him.

I shook my head and rubbed my palms with my hand, not knowing what to say or do. This night was too much for me to handle already.

"Please try to understand, she needs help. She's not going to stay here, she has a room at the Empire Hotel, but I still need to talk to her-"

"What kind of trouble?" I cut him off, looking away. Knowing she used to be part of a criminal gang, I figured she didn't just need a helping advice from Josh. "Is there money involved in this again?"

"No, it's nothing like that! Whatever bussiness we did before, it's over. She's pregnant"

"YOU MADE HER PREGNANT?!" I shouted way louder than I intended.

"What- NO! You think I- what the fuck Lexie?! I haven't seen her in over a year?! We never even-..." Josh yelled back in shock and darted his eyes to me.

His surprised face made it pretty clear that was not the case.

"I'm sorry, I jumped to conclutions okay" I admitted and put my hands in the air in front of me. "So why is she here?"

"She needs help hiding, her ex boyfriend isn't exactly a fatherly person, and he's after her"

"And she dragged you into this?! Josh you promised me no more shady bussiness, this can't be real" I sighed. Who did she think he was, a fucking priest?!

"I know, but I have to help her! I owe her that after everything that happened, she practically saved your life by lying to Antonio. She saved both of us."

I could hear the desperation in Josh's voice, and I realized he really was trying to do the right thing. He helped her once, when Antonio was after her, and he could do it again.
