"Piper, are you ready to go? I was thinking that maybe we can't grab some to eat then I'll take you home." I yell as I walk downstairs. I really want to know more about her. She's not what I thought.

I get no response.

She's probably in the kitchen. Once I make down the stairs my greeted by Max.

"Wassup buddy!" I say to him as I bend down to ruffle his hair.

He then jumps up and tackles me down to the ground. He latches onto my shirt and growls. He wants to play. I stand up a little to his level and smirk.

"You ready Max?" I ask him as we circle each in my foyer in front of my door.

He barks in return and we're wrestling.

Max is like my best friend and we always play around and hang out like real people would.

Our little match lasts for a couple of minutes until Max goes outside to chase a bird that chirped. Some dog. Short attention spam, I think with a chuckle.

I get up from the floor and walk into the kitchen.

"Piper, I know I took a long time but-" I say while walking to the kitchen but stop when I find out she's not there. Where is she?

I walk out the kitchen to walk into my living room to try and see if she's there. But I fall short when I see she's not there.

A frown makes its way on my face. Where is she?

She's probably in the bathroom, so I'm going to wait.

30 minutes later

Where is she? Wait, did I tell her where the bathroom was?

I walk to my downstairs guest bathroom and knock.

No response.

I slowly creep in and come up short again when I don't see her.

Where is she?

I walk out the bathroom to the foyer to get my car keys off the key holders. Now I'm out the door, and rushing to my car.

I unlock my car and hop in. I put the key in the ignition and drive off. I turn on my head lights because it's getting dark quick.

After driving a good minute, I see a slim figure walking on the sidewalk. Hugging themselves.
The person must have seen my lights because they glance behind themselves.

Piper.

I stop my car a couple feet behind her and unbuckle my seat belt.

She turns around to face towards the car and walks backwards quickly.

I hop out the car and call her name. She tenses and turns around to run which causes me to run.

"Piper!" I yell out to her, seeing that she's about to lose her footing.

I run faster that my feet let me run. I catch her before she falls.
