"It's been a long while since I've been in an airplane." Marian mumbled, looking up to the large flying machine in front of her. Many thoughts were jumbled up in her mind; the emotions that she was feeling in this moment were almost to much for her to handle.
The whole week was just a crazy one for her. First she was rescued by two eerie men, who both claimed to be like her. Second she ends up almost choking one of her rescuers, to which he refused to accept her apology. And now she was going to another part of America, to some secret base where other... mutants, like her, were staying. It was too much.
"Are you going to be okay, Marian?" Charles walked by her side, giving the girl a kind smile before he looked back to the plane. "There's nothing to worry about, I assure you. This ride will be smooth."
"It's not the ride in worried about." Marian lowly replied, looking down to her hands as they shook anxiously, a red veil encasing them the longer that she stood there. Charles quickly reached down and grabbed her hands, folding his hands over her own as he moved to face her away from the plane.
"Calm down, Marian." He gave her a gentle smile, giving her hands a small squeeze before patting her hair. "Nothing will happen. And if something does, then I'll be there to make sure no one gets hurt." Charles tried his hardest to read the expression that was cast over Marian's face, but he knew that it would take longer than a few weeks to be able to read her properly.
Charles knew what it was like to not have complete control over his mutation, but of course, that was many, many years ago. Marian was what, only a year or two younger than he was, and she was still having trouble controlling her extraordinary power, but Charles knew that her mutation was much more powerful than his, or even Erik's was. From beside him, Marian gave Charles a ghost of a smile as she nodded her head in appreciation, though in the back of her mind something still bothered her as she turned back to look at the giant metal bird.
"Will Erik be flying with us?" Marian's voice was almost to quiet to be heard, her head tilting to the side a bit as she looked to the side where Erik was standing a few meters away. He seemed to be talking to one of the flight attendants, his lips being pursed into a thin line. Almost as if Erik could sense eyes on him, he quickly turned to look at Charles and Marian, his eye narrowing when they met Marian's eyes. Marian couldn't help but gasp a bit when this happened, and she quickly turned away from him before letting her hair fall to cover her face.
"Of course he will." Charles nodded as he let out a small sigh, and he shook his head in slight amusement as he watched the brief interaction between the two mutants. When he felt a squeeze against his hand, he looked back down to Marian before patting her hair once again with his free hand, a reassuring smile forming on his face before he moved towards the airplanes. "Come on now, let's go ahead and board while we're waiting for Erik."

"Just about one hour left, Marian."
Marian looked up from her book as Charles took the empty seat next to her, a large smile on his face as he gave her shoulder a gentle pat. "I told you that there was nothing to worry about, you did great." Marian gave Charles a smile in return as she nodded her head, and she briefly looked down to her book before a red veil dusted over the pages and she closed the book. "Would you like something to drink?"
"I think I'm fine." Marian shook her head in response as she set her book down neatly in her lap, and she placed her feet back on to the floor. Marian turned her attention away from Charles after talking with him for a few more minutes, her eyes gazing over the clouds as she look out of the window.
Marian couldn't remember the last time that she had flown in a plane. But she loved the idea of being able to fly, to be free as she'd sore through the air with her hair whipping around behind her. Her nerves seemed to calm as she closed her eyes and imagined the wind licking at her skin, and the fluffy, white clouds dusting her clothes with raindrops as she twisted and turned every-which-way in the beautiful sky. A peaceful smile found its way on to Marian's lips as she leaned back again her seat, her head falling to the side as she kept her eyes on the beautiful sunset in the sky.
"What is she smiling about?" Erik couldn't help but glance over to Marian as Charles took his seat next to him, his eyebrows furrowing in confusion as he took in her relaxed posture. "Didn't you say that she was nervous to fly?"
"Well that's just it," Charles replied, taking a sip of his drink as he crossed his legs. "Flying seems to calm her nerves. Though, she made it seem as if flying would upset her and her mutation." Charles leaned his head against his hand as his gaze drifted from Marian to Erik, his eyebrows raising to his hairline as he let out a small hum. "Why?"
"Hm? Oh well she just.." Erik paused for a moment as he look down to his lap, the ice in his drink clinking against the side of his glass as he swirled it around in his hand. "I don't know, she just seems more relax up here than when we were on the ground." Erik let out a shrug before he placed his drink on to a small table, and as he stood to his feet, he stretched his arms above his head before nodding to Charles. "I'll be right back."
"I'm surprised you noticed that Erik." Charles spoke out, a small smirk pulling up the edge of his lips when Erik stopped. As his friend turned around to look at him, Charles tossed Erik a knowing look before nodding towards Marian. "Is it possible that you're finally opening up a bit towards her?"
"No." Came Erik's quick and hard reply, and with a shake of his head he narrowed his eyes at Charles before slowly heading towards the bathroom. "But.." Erik once again came to a stop, his hands balling into fists by his sides as he sucked in a deep breath. "Maybe.. maybe this won't be as bad as I thought."
