The next morning, when Marian had first woken up, she noticed that she had slept in later then normal. The small watch that she had fished out of her bag read 9:47, making her sit straight up in her bed.
But suddenly, all of the events from yesterday came flooding back as she looked around the room. She wasn't in her cell anymore. No more tests, no more guards. She was free. Marian let out a small sigh as she remembered, and she rubbed her eyes gently as she climbed out of bed. Walking into the bathroom, Marian turned on the sink to splash her face with water to help wake herself up.
But something fell off to Marian. It wasn't the fact that she finally had privacy, and her own room. It was the fact that everything was quiet. Even the thoughts that usually bombarded her were quiet, and that was a strange feeling to her. Usually she had guards on her 24/7, but now she didn't. But then something else ram through her mind.
'Charles?' Marian called out through her mind, looking into the mirror as she waited for a reply, but it never came. 'Charles?' She called once more, but again, nothing.
A sudden sense of dread washed over Marian when she didn't get a reply. Did they forget about her? But Charles had promised to help her. He wouldn't leave, right.
'Erik?' Marian this time tried him, hoping that at least he would answer, if they were even there. 'Answer me, Erik. Please!'
'What do you need, Marian?'
Relief flooded Marian when she heard his voice in her head. Letting out a sigh, Marian sat down on the bed as she placed her head into her hands, her eyes closing slowly.
'Charles didn't answer.' Marian replied, opening her eyes again and setting out a clean outfit on the edge of her bed. 'I thought that you two had already left.'
It was silent for a bit, making Marian actually slowly begin to believe that Erik had fallen back asleep. But she eventually got a reply.
'Charles wouldn't leave without you.' Came Eriks reply, which was shortly followed by a small sigh. 'So don't worry. Why are you awake? Shouldn't you be sleeping?'
Marian let out a small laugh at his question, and she glanced over to the wall with a small smile on her lips. 'It's nearly 10 in the morning. I should've been awake hours ago.' She told him, stretching a bit as she stood up before heading to the bathroom to change.
'Yes, because I knew that.' Eriks voice was laced heavily with sarcasm, and he let out a sigh when he realized that he probably wouldn't be heading back to sleep anytime soon.
