If nearly headless nick hadn't favored Harry and made Peeves drop the vanishing cabinet, then it wouldn't have needed to been repaired and Draco wouldn't have become a Death Eater, Lucius could have broken in and repaid his debt of not getting the prophecy any time and killed Dumbeldore.
