CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

Start from the beginning

"So then, what do you suggest then, James? Do you just want me to abandon them and let them fend for themselves while we find a new shelter to hide in?"

"Something like that. I'm not saying all of them, but take just the ones that you believe you can trust and are vital to our survival. The others we could leave here in the dead of night. Or we could just kill them here and now. You know Mia is willing to do that for you if you just give her the order to. Hell, after killing as many as she's had so far, I'm sure she's used to it and is probably fairly good at it now without leaving too much of a mess to clean up."

"Sounds fair enough. However, what if it comes to the fact that you are one of the one's that I decide to leave behind?"

"Well, if you decide to go with the option of Mia killing everyone, then I would like to make the request of her smothering me between her breasts. If you decide just to leave in the dead of night, then when I wake up in the morning, as much as I'll hate it, I'll kill everyone who was left in here and move on by myself in order to survive."

Iwakuni smiled, knowing that James was telling the truth with his second option, as for the his response to having Mia smother him was typical to his style of humor, and even now, he still found it rather enjoyable, "Well, if it does come down to Mia killing all the undesirables, I'll see what I can do in regards to your request. But that's not something we should concern ourselves here just yet." He looked out the window, "Because we have to wait for these things to leave us alone long enough for it to even become more than simply a thought."

The bus was surrounded by about thirty zombies, all gathered the bus. Some wondering close by, while others were pressed against the glass doing everything it could to try and come in, but to no evale.

James looked out the driver's window and whistled, "Wow, more actually decided to show up. I wonder how long it will take before they get bored and move on."

"I don't think that's even possible for these things to get bored. You forget, these things are dead, time serves no purpose for them anymore."

"One things for certain though: I'm glad that one guy lured that black blob thing away from us. I still don't know what the hell that thing was, but I was getting bad vibes from it, much worse than I'm getting from all of these zombies combined. It felt like...it was honestly stalking us, unlike these things who are just stumbling around like fucking idiots."

Iwakuni had to agree with that, but still...something wasn't feeling right. Like he was forgetting about something, or maybe someone. And he was the kind of person who won't be able to sleep until he figured it out. He began to think about it.

What or who the hell am I forgetting?

Knowing that this was not really the time or the place to reminisce on memories to try and remember what it is that was bugging the hell out of him, he managed to push the thought aside to focus on the more pressing of manners: Where their new Base of Survival was going to be at, because he and James both knew that this bus won't last forever, and all it takes is one of these damn things to get lucky to break in and start killing everyone.

"It appears one of the groups had a similar incident with 'Teeth' just like your scout team did, Director." The Councilman seemed to have a sense of disappointment on his face, "However, unlike your team, none of them were killed, but one of them appeared to have been bitten. Care to explain why that's the case?"

The Director turned his attention to the Councilman, but did not break eye contact with the Chairman, "Because Councilman, my team, 'Teeth', as we've apparently agreed to title it, was not what it was searching for, they just happened to have gotten in its way."
