Alpha Jason looked towards the doorway and sighed before placing a hand on my shoulder once more.

"Michael will learn to accept your decision as I have, I will inform Jacob and Nile and of course Alex the next time I see him."

I furrowed my brow.

"Have you not seen him? I though Alex was here for the duration of our stay."

Alpha Jason looked at me apologetically.

"He asked me not to tell you, but Alex and his mate have gone off. They wanted time to sort their relationship out before mating."

I was still confused by this, why would Alex not want me to know that?

"Well, I must be off there is much perimeter to cover." He smiled at me once more before heading off in the same direction as Michael and Owen.

I was left alone in the same room as Drew and he rubbed the back of his neck nervously.

"I uh...do you want to get something to eat?" He asked tentatively.

I considered leaving him in the living room while I walked up the stairs for a shower but my stomach protested against my better judgement.

"I guess that's a yes." He chuckled lightly before motioning for me to follow him into the kitchen.

I sat at the bar for what seemed like eternity, watching him scramble about the kitchen before I'd finally had enough and hopped down from the bar stool.

"Allow me, please." I offered to which he nodded and complied, lending me the knife and stepping to the side.

In a matter of minutes I'd finished our meal of salad and steak and we were eating in silence at the bar.

The close proximity was driving me crazy and I was anxious just sitting next to him as I could feel the vibrations of our wolves picking up in intensity.

Before long Drew had turned to me, placing his silverware down abruptly and speaking.

"I think we should talk, I know we had that conversation in my room weeks ago but I think it's time we sat down and discussed where we should go from here."

I couldn't help but feel he was right, I needed the closure of being able to hear him say that he didn't want me and then I could finally move past these strange feelings.

"Let us go upstairs and shower and then we can talk."

His eyes widened at my words and I stuttered to correct myself.

"I mean let's shower separately and then come together to talk, I didn't mean to imply- I mean I just wanted to-"

He laughed as he finished the last of his meal and hopped from the stool to place his plate in the sink.

"I'll see you after your shower, Dani."

I nodded and stood, bowing in respect before he took two steps closer to me.

"You don't need to bow...we are equals, nothing will change that."

Before I could counter his statement, he had turned on his heel and ascended the stairs.

As I toweled my hair from the beads of water in my bedroom I found myself staring out into the fields of land surrounding the pack house. The grass was growing lush and greener than it had been when we arrived weeks before, and the gates had been repaired as well as the large fountain in the front of the house.
