Awake
"ミさん、起きたんですか？聞こえますか。[1]"
Where's the Feng Huang? That's my first thought.
Of course I'm awake That's the second.
Wait, that's Japanese. My eyes finally see the doctor leaning over me. He's a doctor. A real-life doctor and he's speaking Japanese to me.
I'm back.
I immediately try to sit up, but every muscle in me screams. Especially my arm, which feels really painful.
"聞こえますね。何が起きたか覚えてますか。[2]"
I should be answering his question, but what comes out of my mouth is something totally different. "母と会いたい。家族と会いたい。[3]"
The doctor smiles gently at me. "はい、はい。すぐ会えますよ。家族は外で待っていますから。[4]"
He continues speaking in Japanese, probably asking me more questions about my condition. But I don't hear any of that. I look up at the ceiling, a smile on my face.
I'm finally back.
