II. Avoiding Alyce

"Masaya sila," sansala niya. "Masaya silang makilala ka."

"Really? Bakit 'di naman yata?"

"Ganyan lang talaga sila kapag masaya. Hindi halata." Lalo lang kumunot ang noo ni Alyce nang wala man lang ngumiti sa kanilang tatlo.

"O-Okay? Gets ko na."

BE mine tonight Alyce.

Be mine.

Napabalikwas ng bangon si Alyce. Habol ang hininga na naigala niya ang tingin sa madilim niyang silid. Natutop niya ang dibdib habang kinakalma ang sarili. Bakit ba lagi niyang napapaginipan ang mga eksenang 'yon?

Why does it sounded like Darwin's voice? Nahilot niya ang sentindo. Why am I always thinking of him? Ano bang meron tayo? Bakit lagi ka na lang sumusulpot sa utak ko Darwin?

She heave a heavy sighed.

No Alyce. It's just a dream. It don't mean a thing. Mabilis na inabot niya ang lalagyanan ng gamot niya sa bedside table. Falling asleep is really hard for her. Alam niyang sumusobra na ang pag-inom niya ng sleeping pills but she needed those to calm her mind and let her sleep.

Humugot ulit siya nang malalim na hininga.

It will be alright Alyce.

Everything will be alright for you.

"I DON'T know what's on your mind Darwin but for me, the better way to lose a person are as follows." Itinaas ni Keeper ang isang kamay at nagsimulang isa-isahin ang suhestiyon nito. "Ignore them. Never appreciate them. Never show you're into them. Take them for granted. Hate them. Judge them negatively. And don't get close to them. Things gets complicated when you start getting close to them. A simple conversation may lead to a lot of good or bad opportunities ... one's feelings to blossom or one's situation to be more chaotic before the change stir."

"Amen."

Binatukan ni Darwin si Strar. "Umayos ka."

"I'm listening," Strar gestured one hand and gave them a sign to zip his mouth.

"I know it will work," sang-ayon niya. "But I'm still her other half."

"Exactly, and I believe you're well aware that not all soulmates end up together."

"I know –"

"Remember your words. Humans are unpredictable. They always change their minds and hearts. You can change her part Darwin. You just have to push her to change it."

They nodded in unison.

"Agree," ni Strar. "Pero ang hindi ko lang maintindihan ay kung bakit kailangan n'yo pang mag English habang nag-uusap?" They glared at Strar. "Ha-ha," napalunok si Strar. "I love English so much. Oh my gas, diesel and menola cooking oil." He sighed nervously. "Bigla akong nagutom." Puro talaga kalokohan ang laman ng utak ng 'sang 'to.

Seemed familiar though.

"BAKA naman ngayon one week na lang ang ilalagi mo sa Pilipinas at aalis ka na naman?" napasimangot si Alyce sa sinabi ni Allysa. "Pumirmi ka naman nang matagal dito. You don't need to always prove yourself to others Alyce. If they can't see it then be it. Hindi nila alam kung gaano kalaking talent ang pinalampas nila."
