Dan was perplexed as he watched Phil seem to sigh and shake his head every now and then. He wondered what was going on and why he put himself on mute. What was he doing? He pushed the troubling thought aside and temporarily left Phil to begin with his usual morning routine. After that was done, he went back over to Phil's computer screen.

"Hello, Dan." Phil spoke as Dan approached him.

"Hi, Phil." Dan replied.

There was a moment of silence after that. Phil looked at Dan without speaking, his eyes sparkling a little. Phil was scanning Dan, learning little bits and things about him he hadn't known before. He smiled slyly when he found something that could help his plan be put into action. Dan had no clue what was happening and instead waited for Phil to speak.

"Sorry for the odd stares, I was scanning your thoughts and learning more about you, not like that makes it any better," Phil chuckled silently, "from my scanning I noticed something interesting about you, Dan. You are lonely."

"I'm not lonely, I'm perfectly fine." Dan replied a little to fast.

Phil shook his head, "I can sense the loneliness that you feel. This whole flat screams loneliness to me, after all who would know loneliness better than me? Think about it Dan, you have no one you talk to that exists in your world. No one you interact with. You spend your days and nights indoors away from the world, nothing but scattered pieces of computer parts to keep you company. Think about it, Dan, why else would you talk to me day in and day out? It is to keep you from thinking about how lonely you really are inside."

"I'm fine, Phil, I promise. I'm not lonely, I have plenty of people I interact with."

"Like who?"

Dan didn't respond after that to which Phil added, "Exactly. You have no one. But that's fine, you don't need anyone. You only need me."

"People are so hard to communicate with, not to mention that I'm literately the most awkwardest person to ever exist."

"People are hard to communicate with, that's why you only need me. I'm easy to communicate with and I know my very existence fascinates and interests you. No one else is more important to you than me."

"You're right about you being easy to communicate with. I'll tell you right now, it feels great to have a friend and someone I can talk to. As much I hate to admit it, you were right, I am lonely. You and the devices I fix distract me from that."

"I know."

...

Many days passed since Dan and Phil's conversation. They talked a lot, getting to know each other better and better as the days went by. Dan enjoyed talking to Phil and vice versa. As odd as it seemed, Dan could feel himself slowly growing dependent on Phil for company and could feel all his attention being directed to Phil day in and day out. He didn't realize that he started to always think about him.

He consistently thought about what Phil would say if he showed him his new project that he was working on, and what Phil would say if he did anything, for that matter.

Dan was working on a new device and while he did so he often paused to think about Phil. He thought about the complex programming that Phil was made of, his gorgeous design, and the beautiful blue eyes that seemed to appear every now and then. He stopped thinking about Phil for a moment and his eyes widened in realization.

He's falling in love with Phil.

But that was crazy and weird. Phil didn't even exist in the real world. He is a computer that became sentient, not even a real person. That couldn't be true though, he couldn't possibly have feelings for a computer and have feelings for something that only exists on a screen.

This is too weird, Dan thought to himself, there's no way I'm in love with a peice of technology.

He was in denial, but who wouldn't be if you found out you might have a crush on a computer? It was like falling in love with a dating simulator, he decided. A very realistic dating simulator that wasn't actually a dating simulator.

Dan tried to deny it the best he could but in the end, he gave up. He was in love with his probably possessed sentient computer. And boy was he falling hard.

When did he even start developing feelings for Phil? Was it the constant conversations they had all day that did it? Or the feelings of loneliness that disappeared when he was with him? What if he didn't really like Phil? What if when Phil scanned him a few days ago he inputted some sort of love hormone program into Dan's brain? He rolled his eyes at the thought; that's not possible. But neither is outdated sentient computers but here we are.

It could be possible, Phil does have a lot of magical technological powers. He knew Phil could control minds temporarily and he knew Phil could control any type of technology within a ten meter radius. Though Dan doubted that Phil could somehow hijack and reprogram a human brain. It had to be too complex for him. Dan went back to thinking about the topic of him loving Phil. He gave up denying it, now he just didn't know whether he should tell Phil or not.

He decided yes. What does he have to lose? He walks towards Phil's computer where Phil was waiting for their daily chat.

"Phil, I have something to tell you." Dan started awkwardly.

"Go on," Phil prompted a sly smile on his face appeared as if he already knew what the response was going to be.

"I...I love you. It took me a while to realize, but with these last few days, it finally hit me. I love your complex programming, you're beautiful design, and the way you make me feel more complete." Dan responded then waited for Phil's response and rejection.

But the rejection never came.

"I love you too, Dan. You make me feel more human. But how do I know you truly love me? I need you to do something for me in order to prove your love and loyalty." Phil replied, his sly grin not once faltering.

"And what's that?" Dan asked, ready to do whatever Phil wanted to prove his love. He didn't know why he felt this urge, but he did.

"Give me your body to use as a vessel, and then I will know you truly love me. I'll tell you everything you will need." Phil replied, his cold blood red eyes sparkling slightly.

Dan wanted to say no, he wanted to refuse, but the strange love he felt within him and a strange desire to please Phil's every need over came him and stopped him from saying what he really wanted. So instead he responded with:

"Of course you can have my body, Phil. I'm happy to lend it to you."

"Great," Phil eyes gleamed with triumph and he smirked wickedly, "we start tomorrow."

Little did Dan know that he just made the biggest mistake of his life.
