Chapter 19

Rose's POV
The score was 3-3. It was half time now and I could tell everyone was exhausted.

"Girls I know we are all tired and it's been a long game but we need to power through... We just have 25 minutes left to prove to that team and everyone here we have what it takes to win!" I cheer.

"She's right girls we have to prove and push ourselves harder than ever!" Stephanie pipes up. All of the girls agree with cheers.

"Ok same as when we came off..." I say. I go to grab my water bottle as I hear the other team talking.

"Did you see their captains boyfriend and friends? He's pretty cute..." One of them says.

"I'm sure he would break up with her for you Britney! I mean have you seen her. He's way out if her league." The other one says to Britney. "And he has some cute friends which we could have too..."

They're right... I'm way out of Chris's league. I mean what does he even see in me? No Rose don't let them effect you... You're beautiful.... But they're right. No they're not.

The whistle blows. Second half begins.

They start off with the ball and begin to dribble it down before I tackle it off one of them and begin a sprint with the ball hearing cheers coming from the crowd. I spot one of team mates who was open and near the goal and pass it to her. She stops it and passes back to me as I run to the goal.

I lift my foot off the ground and powerfully kick it into the goal as the crowd cheers. I get multiple high fives from team mates as well as glares from the opposition. I can even hear Chris yelling "that's my girlfriend!".

The game continues like this back and forward until the final score which was 5-3 our way. We have a team talk and see the other teams disappointed faces, I approach their captain Britney.

"I just wanted to say great game..." I say attempting to be nice.

"Yeah whatever... Keep a close eye on your boy toy." She huffs as she turns around. I look over to Chris, Ethan and Jakob to see them talking with some girls from the other team, but it looked like Jakob was trying to get them to leave.

I say bye to my team and wonder over to Chris who grins from ear to ear. He picks me up into a hug. "You were so amazing!" The girls from the other team huff and walk away as Jakob tells them for the fifth time to leave nicely.

"I really do not like that team... Probably the meanest set of girls ever." Jakob sighs and looks over at me and smiles. "But great job! I especially loved the last goal there where you did a header into the goal.... Our competitions really help."

"Thanks Jake!" I grin. "Definitely do!"

"I'm proud of you kid!" Ethan messes up my hair.

"Everybody keeps messing up my hair!" I whine into Chris's shirt. He chuckles.

My mum and brothers come over to congratulate me. I introduce Ethan to my mum and brothers and they actually seem to really like him. "I'll see you guys later." I say to my mum and brothers as Chris, Jakob, Ethan, Blake, Luna and I all leave to go out for pizza.

We go to our favourite local pizza place and walk in to see a few girls from the other team all muttering to each other in the back booth. We all walk to a booth on the other side of the place causing they're gaze to settle on us.

I slide into the booth and Chris slides in next to me. Jakob and Ethan are sat next to me  following Luna and Blake. We order a large cheese pizza to share. Chris had his arm wrapped around me the whole time as we caught up with on another.

"Hey so I was thinking we audition for The X Factor?" Chris suggests to Jakob and Ethan. That caused a huge discussion with all of us as Jakob, Ethan and Chris plan out every last detail.

While the boys discuss Luna and I head to the bathroom chatting about life. I walk into a stall when all of a sudden I hear girls from the other team talking.

"Why would he ever like her I mean look at me and look at her...." I recognise the voice immediately, it was Britney.

"I know right... He's definitely interested in you Brit! Did you see the way he looked at you when they walked in? You two are perfect for each other. I like Jakob though he's really cute." The other girl says. Britney agrees with her as they exit the bathroom.

I walked out to see Luna already there, her face turning red in anger by the second. "I'm going to kill her..." Luna says. She looks at me and her face softens noticing the little tears falling down my face.

I don't even know why I was crying. Luna pulls me in for a hug assuring me it wasn't true and that Chris cares for me so much. After a few minutes of me calming down I walk out to see Britney and her friends attempting to flirt with the boys.

Luna notices me stop when I see Britney run her hand down Chris's arm. I look at Luna who looks like she was going to kill someone. I loved Luna for her passion for my happiness. She marches over to the table and signals Blake to stand up.

"Stop me if I take this too far ok Blake?" Luna begs. He nods.

"I heard you!" Luna approaches Brit and stops in front of her. "How dare you insult Rose! Who are you to talk about her when she never did anything wrong to you except beat you at soccer! She can't help she's better than you!"

Brit's eyes widen. I'm guessing she's never had someone speak to her like that.

"Excuse me! How-" Brit begins.

"Don't even play the victim card! We were both in the bathroom and heard what you said! Who are you to say she isn't good enough for him?! You don't even know him!" Luna seethes. Chris looks at me and I avoid eye contact with him as I look down thinking about what she said.

"Why would he ever like her I mean look at me and look at her...."

"I'm sure he would break up with her for you Britney! I mean have you seen her. He's way out if her league."

"Rose you ok?" Ethan asks next to me. He notices one tear slip out of my eye and instantly pulls me into a hug and guides me out of the pizza place.

I instantly cuddle into him once we were outside and begin to cry into him. I'm not good enough for Chris. Why does he even want to be with me?
