Ignorance

I find it hard to accept that I will never know you.
I will learn about your past and I will know of you in the present
but there is never a promise I'll keep in touch with you in the future.
You can tell me your biggest fears and explain to me the ones you've conquered
but I will never know more than the amount you're willing to share.
I will see you when you're down and notice the way you cope with problems
but I will never know more than the amount you're willing to share.
I will witness your giving hand to others when they need it
and even the times it is you in distress
but I will never know more than the amount you're willing to share.
But perhaps the only thing more interesting than my ignorance,
is the mere fact you will never be introduced to the person I am in the vacancy of my room at night.
