Clary bent her bright head over her son's crib. Her baby, William grinned at her and she smiled looking at him. He looks so much like Alec she thought. He had Alec's messy black hair and his blue eyes. When the warlock Tessa first saw him she called him William. After her first love. Clary named him William after that, she named him that in honor of Jace's relative. Although from a far Will's eyes looked blue, closer they had golden specks in scattered through them. Like the dying light of the sun. She was bending down to pick him up when she heard the doorbell other institute she froze, panic blossoming in her chest quickly. She picked up Will swiftly and soundlessly ran to the door. Jace was on her heels when she opened the door. A young girl with dark blue hair resting on her shoulders and on her curvy hips. Odd, Clary thought, her hair can't be dyed the color it too rich and smooth to be dyed. This left two options. She paid a warlock to magic the color in. Which means she has knowledge other shadow world. Or... Even worse, she was a faerie.
She can't. Clary scolded herself fore such thoughts. The Cold Peace forbids her coming close to here. It'd be breaking the law she thought almost franticly.
"Hello," the girl said. She had a musical tone to her voice that made Clary's stomach drop "I've come to be trained as a Shadowhunter," Jace was closing the door before she finished her sentence, Clary gave him a stern look and put her foot out to stop the door.
"Hey" Clary said "How do you know about this?" She gestured around herself at the institute.
"Could I come in?" She asked Clary realized that her thin parka wasn't keeping her warm in the icy wind. As the girl stepped inside Clary saw her ears. They were pointed. She was one of the Fair Folk. Clary's stomach dropped even further and her hand was already on Heosphoros as she turned to face the girl.
"There's no need," the faerie said nodding to the sword on Clary's hip. She continued when both of Clary's hand were back on William. "Look, I know that I shouldn't be here-"
"So leave." Jace interrupted
"Shut up," Clary said to her husband "let's hear her out. Its our responsibility as heads of the institute."
"So," the girl continued pointedly "I am a Shadowhunter. I want to be trained. I know you Don't think I'm evil. The faerie in me forbids me from lying. I swear on the angel that I won't betray you." She says this with a fierceness and Clary is reminded of Simon when he was younger
"We trust you" and Clary is shocked that it was Jace that said it. She then remembered Mark Blackthorn. Jace told him "Show them what a Shadowhunter is made of"
"What's your name?" Clary asked gently.
"Cecelia," she says "Cecelia Whitelaw."
