Okay. IM MAD AF. JUST HOLD MY EARRINGS HOE IM GONNA RANT.
So, in every. single. fanfic ever the O/C is a total badass.
It's like, they become a werewolf (never any other supernatural creature because WHY WOULD THAT BE A THING) and then suddenly they're running around with claws out, fully in control of themselves, and taking out teams of Argents like they're suddenly freaking Superman.
Getting in control of your powers takes time. Getting in control of anything takes time.
For example, if you're writing a fanfic where there's just an ordinary girl, then as soon as she comes into the TV show or film or book plot, she shouldn't suddenly discover she's secretly Black Widow and can kick ass like she's Chuck Norris.
Nope. Nope.
I understand that you want to be all feminist and 'women are equal to men' and make it so your fanfic isn't Twilight 2.0 and your O/C isn't Bella Swan II, but your O/C can be strong without being Superman.
Seriously.
I've read fanfics where the O/C is normal, sits at home watching Gossip Girl all day, and then meets her love interest and boom. She's suddenly Captain America.
What.
She can't just go from total couch potato to black belt in two seconds. Yes, she will need some help before she can be a total badass.
Plz, plz, plz take this into account. Yes, you want your O/C to take care of themselves, but please within reason.
