Zenara the Forgotten Pony

Chapter 1: Zenara is Back

(ages of ponies. If I put twilight and her friends at about 16 that should be accurate. Any pony with magic has been around for a long time. Discord is probably way older than any pony, and celestial and Luna were about twilights age when they had their fight and Luna was banished to the moon. So the alicorn ponies age at a different rate. That would mean Zenara had been trapped in the magic stone for just a little over a thousand years. So here's my time line so far.)

Before twilight:

1000 years- the king and queen (parents of Celestia and Luna) sealed three-year-old Zenara in a magical stone after her father threatened the royal family with his shadow magic.

984 years– Luna was sealed in the moon. Celestia became in charge of raising the moon and the sun every day.

Twilight was born: just 16 short more years for the prophesied mare in the moon was set to happen.

6 years old- Magic kindergarten. Twilight's friends are probably all the same age as her except fluttershy who is a year older than pinkiepie.

16yrs old- Twilight is sent to make friends on the eve of the 1000th summer sun celebration. Nightmare moon is released from her prison in the moon, and then promptly defeated by twilight and her friends after they discover the elements of harmony.

17yrs old- the Crystal Empire re-surfaces. Cadence is made princess over the affair of the crystal empire along with her husband shining armor.

18yrs old- Twilight becomes a princess of friendship.

=Past=

When the element tree over grew the forest it allowed for the disruption of the stone which Zenara was trapped in.

A piece of the surrounding, ruined castle of the two sisters, wall falls onto the stone shattering it. a black mist swirls out of the stone finally the shadowy mist takes the form of a dark blue pony with purple markings and no cutie mark.

"free at last." She leaps with joy and stomps around on the ground. "finally after all these years of suffering quietly..." she glances up at a tapestry and frowns. "the alicorns are to blame for my unlawful imprisonment." She narrows her gaze and the tapestry as shadows float around her feet. "the alicorns will pay dearly." The tapestry bursts into blue flames and falls to the ground. Zenara smirks. "once I have regained my full strength nothing will be able to stop me."

=Present Day=

"come on spike hurry up." Twilight calls over her shoulder. "we're already behind schedule and I don't want to be out here longer then I have to."

"yeah I know." Spike huffs jogging alongside twilight. "but can't we slow down I can hardly keep up."

"oh sorry." Twilight giggles a bit. "I'm just so excited. I'm finally making time to go through the old book in the castle of the two sisters. I bet I'll find something really interesting to read later."

"but we're just sorting. The books aren't going anywhere." Spike says smiling. "besides we have a few days to..."

"it doesn't matter. The sooner we get it done the better." Twilight hums her joyful song as she trots to the ruined palace. "not much farther now spike."

"I know that." Spike pouts.

The two enter the castle and start towards the library.

"I can't wait to get my hooves on some of these older books." Twilight cheers positively brimming with excitement about finding an old book she hasn't already read.

"yeah i... OH MY GOSH!" Spike grabs twilight's tail and points at the tapestry on the floor burnt to dust.

"what?" twilight looks at spike and then at the direction he's pointing. "oh my..." twilight investigates the tapestry on the floor. "who did this?"

"I don't know twilight but we'd better get out of... here..." he trails off when he sees Zenara standing at the top of the ruined staircase. "twilight..."

Twilight looks up at the stairs spotting Zenara as well. "oh... hello I didn't know anybody else still came here... c-can I help you?"

Zenara leaps off the top of the staircase and lands on the next piece of step until she reaches the ground level. "you're not them." She says pointing at a different wall art of Luna and Celestia. "but clearly you're an alicorn. Why are you here?"

"books." Twilight looks at the art on the wall. "Princess Celestia and Luna?"

"they will pay." Zenara growls flipping her purple and dark purple mane out of her face. "what are they to you? who are you?"

"twi-twilight sparkle." She bows hesitantly. "I'm the princess of friendship."

Zenara smirks a tiny bit. "friendship? Don't make me laugh."

"hu?" Twilight backs up a step. 'who is this anyway? I've never heard of any ponies living out here in the Everfree forest besides zecora.'

"friendship is a joke." Zenara growls. "tell me where the two princesses of the sun and moon are to be found."

"what do you want with them?" Twilight questions backing up against the wall. 'hu.' She looks up. 'I ran out of room to back up.'

Zenara glancing at spike. "what is that?"

"I I'm spike. I'm a dragon."

"dragon hu?" Zenara smirks. "you're a bit small to be a dragon."

"he's just a baby." Twilight replies. "answer me. what do you want with the princesses?"

"revenge." Zenara looks back at twilight. "you're a princess... let see just how much you matter to your precious other princesses." She lets her shadows surround Twilight and drag her into the floor.

"hu wha!?" twilight disappears.

"twilight!?" spike yells looking around.

"go tell all that Zenara has returned." Zenara grumbles over her shoulder as she walks away. "when the princesses of the sun and moon come to me I will set your twilight free."

Spike runs as fast as he can back to ponyville with tears in his eyes. "I'll get help twilight I'll come back I promise."
