Leo's POV

Hear that crack? That's two things, my heart breaking and the vase that my girlfriend threw at me. She yelled at me, I don't even know why people hate me so much, I am such a nice guy. I have the looks -subtly combs through hair with hands-, money, and even the throne for my queen!

Maybe she doesn't want the responsibility of being queen. These sort of things have happened so often that I have a cycle now.

Day 1 of breakup: cry my eyes out

Day 2: drink until I pass out

Day 3: get over her or if I was really attached to her then repeat.

I tucked the diamond ring in my pocket, I have been holding on to this ring for 3 years and nobody has taken it. I flopped on the bed and sighed. I feel like skipping day 1, so I grabbed my coat and went down to the village to grab a drink, or maybe a few...

"Hi sire." The bartender smiled at him. I knew him well, he was a good friend of mine. I believe his name was Sagittarius, a powerful name. "The usual?" He asked me. "Yes please." I rubbed my head with frustration. He placed the scarlet drink in front of me and sat next to me, this always happened.

"Again?" Sag sighed. "Again." I nodded and said sadly. "Don't worry, there are plenty of other ladies." Sagittarius smiled. He had ruffled hair that stuck out everywhere but he pulled the look off flawlessly, most of the people in the bar were ladies, and for good reason, who wouldn't want to look at his face?

"I have a feeling people think I am a playboy..." I grumbled. "In all honesty...probably." Sag patted my back. I chugged the drink and felt the back of my throat sting, the pain distracted me and I asked for another.

Sag hesitantly put another drink in front of me. "Slow down..." He warned. He knew me so well, I would drink until I would pass out and then be escorted home by him with a horrendous hangover.

"I just can't believe they leave me at the last minute." I pounded my head on the counter. Sag looked at me with pitiful eyes, he felt bad for me, he always did. A handful of high screams came from outside. "What the bloody hell?!" I teetered outside to see what was happening.

Sag steadied him. "Good god..." He almost threw up and I felt like throwing up, maybe because of the drinks. There was a bloody mess in the middle of the village, bits of flesh were scattered everywhere. Blood trailed back into the forest with an arm left on the way.

"What was that?..." Sag gasped next to me. "The beast..." I answered. Father had told me on his death bed to get rid of the beast, I didn't think it was true, until now. I put on my shawl and put the hoodie on. I was sober enough to walk home on my own.

I always had to take the beaten trail and after seeing that incident I felt paranoid to even walk in daylight. After safely reaching the house I called for my advisor, Taurus. "Yes sir?" He blinked. "Taurus, I saw the great beast attack today..." I gulped, the memory was burned into my brain.

"Oh dear..." Taurus began strategizing in his head. "We need to get rid of it..." I said with a determined face. Taurus was surprised to see me, taking a problem with such seriousness. "Why don't you hire some hunters?" Taurus suggested.

"Hunters...how about I place a bounty on the beast....people will come flocking!" I jumped up. "Good idea sire." Taurus bowed. As I laid in my room my mind drifted back to my girlfriend, or she used to be...

I felt a sudden chill down my back and looked around, the window had opened and was swishing with the wind. Did I leave this open? I turned around and saw a tall figure. I was just about to scream for help until a hand clamped around my mouth, muffling it.

"Shh king I come for my precious belonging." It was a feminine voice, she purred in my ear,  and had bad English. She held up an amulet I had found over a year ago. "Why you take this?" She hissed. "I found it on the way home!" I said after she took her hand off.

"You are a ino." She whispered. I had no idea what that meant but the language seemed familiar. A heard the ruffle of her dress along the floor as she quickly leaped out the window. How did she run in a dress?

I looked at the ground and saw a single peacock feather. "The anima tribe." I concluded after looking at it. It was a native tribe pretty far away that dress up as their 'spirit animal.' They are stealthy despite their outrageous dresses and are considerable fighters.

I wanted to know who the hell broke into my bedroom. A small knock came at the door. I opened it and the palace healer was in the doorway. "Cancer." I acknowledged. "Sir." She bowed. "You have to have your medicine." She said quietly. "Of course." I let her in. It wasn't serious medication it was more of like, preventing the life threatening disease my father had.

It only prevented the disease, didn't cure it. I swallowed the bitter juice and made a sour face. Cancer laughed quietly, she always laughed at the faces I made while taking the medicine. "I'll be off, oh and I suggest you close the window, don't want you to get a cold." She bowed again and left.

I looked out the window, just in case and then locked it. I changed into my night shirt and then sunk into my fluffy mattress. I took the case from my nightstand and opened it. I gazed at the shiny ring, it was my mother's, another failure, another thing to make up. I closed the box and tucked it under my pillow, I was very protective of the ring.

My eyes closed and then I was fast asleep.
