AJ's POV
Rarity and I went downstairs and had a light breakfast of oatmeal topped with fresh berries. When we were finished, and cleaning off the dishes, Applebloom finally stumbled downstairs. "Better get goin' on your chores sis' before Big Mac comes in and yells at you again." I said to Applebloom. "I know, I know." Applebloom muttered. After Rarity and I finished cleaning the dishes, we headed down the driveway to her car. "So, I think I finally decided what I want to do today." Rarity said with a sly grin. I looked at her with a curious yet worried look. She always had something planned. "Well, what do you wanna do then Rare?" I asked trying to not sound worried about whatever she was scheming." Rarity looked at me in a matter-of-factly sorta look, and said "We're gonna have a date day!" I looked at her confused. "What do you mean a "date day"?" I asked. "Well, it's a day where we have just one big date! It isn't just an evening of dinner and a movie." Rarity explained. We buckled up and she started her car. "So, what is the first destination on this date day?" I asked Rarity. "It's a surprise." Rarity said. "Of course it is." I mumbled under my breath. Rarity ignored what I said and kept singing, "Waves by Luna Shadows." I just listened to Rare sing all the way to the first destination on our "date day". I closed my eyes about half way through the car ride just enjoying the music and her singing. When she finally stopped the car I opened my eyes to find us at a playground. I looked around confused. "What in tarnation are we doin' here?" I asked. I sat up in my seat and uncrossed my arms to unbuckle my seat belt. Rarity just smiled and walked around to my side of the car to open the door for me. I got out and kept giving her the "I don't know what you're up to but I don't like it" look. After Rarity closed my door and locked her car, we started walking towards the swing set. I looked around to realize that this was the park we all went to when we first started high school for the Freshman Fair. I had only seen Rarity then and never talked to her. I didn't talk to her until we bumped into one another in the hall way later that year. Rarity and I sat down on the swings and sat in silence for a moment. Well, almost silence, there was a dad and his two kids playing on the other side of the playground. I looked to my right at Rarity and I asked, "Do you remember the Freshman Fair?" Rarity looked back and answered, "Of course darling. Why else would I bring us here? This was the first time I saw you." I looked surprised. I never knew she saw me at the Freshman Fair. "So you saw me too?" I asked. "Yes." Rarity replied with a small giggle. "You looked so adorable getting out of Big Mac's truck." I smiled at the memory. "I didn't know anyone was looking at me." I blushed. "You were honestly hard to miss darling." Rarity said with her tongue sticking out at me. I laughed really hard because it was true. Big Mac drove mom and dad's old truck, and frankly, a big burnt orange apple truck wasn't hard to miss. Rarity and I sat and reminisced about that day in silence for a while. The silence was interrupted by the two little kids wanting to swing on the swing set. Rarity asked them if they could hold on for one second. I gave her a curious look. Rarity went up to the dad and gave him her phone. I asked her "What are you doin'?" Rarity held out her hand and I took it while we were still sitting on the swing set. The dad walked behind the swing set and told us to get ready for the picture. Rarity then said, "Smile darling, and look me in the eyes, okay?" I nodded and smiled. The dad counted down from three. "Three....Two....One....Say cheese!" The dad said. Rarity and I smiled at one another while holding hands across the swing set. The dad snapped a couple photos before giving the phone back to Rarity. She told the dad thank you and I got off the swing set so the kids could swing. As we walked to another part of the park, we flipped through the pictures. They were honestly adorable. "I'm going to print this photo out and frame it for each of us." Rarity said. I was excited to have my own physical copy. We played on the monkey bars for a while before Rarity said it was my turn to pick where to go next on our date day. "It's just after 12:00," I said, "Do you want to grab something to eat at Sugarcube Corner?" "Sure." Rarity said with a smile. We got into the car and drove the 20 minutes to Sugarcube Corner. Luckily for us, it wasn't all that busy looking. We parked the car and went inside where Pinkie Pie took us to our seats. "Booth or table?" Pinkie asked. "Booth, in the corner if you don't mind." Rarity said. "In the corner," I thought, "That's the most secluded seat in the entire place." Pinkie Pie took us to our booth and told us she will be back in a few minutes before taking out order. I scanned over the menu. "Hmm, a hamburger with fries and a chocolate milkshake sound really good." I thought. I looked up to see if Rarity had decided on her meal choice. "What are you going to get Rare?" I asked. "I think I'll get a grilled chicken salad with a chocolate milkshake." she said. "Me too! About the milkshake that is," I said,"but I want the hamburger." Rarity gave me the look that told me everything. "Do you wanna share a super-duper-spectacular-couple shake?" We asked one another at the same time. Rarity and I laughed very hard at our jinx. Pinkie Pie came over to see what the commotion was all about. "What are you two laughing about?" Pinkie asked. We told her what we wanted and we told her about how we said we wanted to share a super-duper-spectacular-couple shake, and how we jinxed one another. Pinkie laughed and said, "you two are caaaaaaaraaaaazyy." She took our menu's and told us our orders would be out in a few minutes. Rarity was still all giggly from what happened before. She was so cute when she smiled. Her eyes sparkled like pools of sapphires. Cheesy, I know, but it's true. I loved her and I couldn't lie to myself. Rarity's smile dropped a little, and her eyes changed. It was as if we were having a moment. It looked like she wanted to lean in and kiss me! I returned the look, with a small pink in my cheeks. Of course the thought of kissing her made me blush. Rarity started to lean in when Pinkie Pie had jumped out of no where with our food. Rarity jumped slightly, and I hid the giggle under my breath. Rarity shot me a look sort of like "Shh I didn't just jump" and a "say something and I'll hit you." Pinkie didn't bring us our shake yet. She said it should be done by the time we finish eating. Pinkie went to help some other customers after asking if everything looked okay. I started to dig in when Rarity said, "Well, at least our shake won't be melted by the time we finish eating." I nodded in agreement because I already had a huge bite of burger in my mouth. Rarity gave a small giggle before diving into her salad. We ate in silence for the most part, sharing small talk every one in a while. It wasn't uncomfortable, it was actually quite nice to just sit down and eat a meal together. I finished my burger and started in on my fries when I saw two little fingers steal a fry right out of my grasp. "Hey now!" I said with a laugh. Rarity ate the fry quickly and gave me an innocent look. "What?" she said, "I didn't do anything, I totally didn't steal one of your fries." Rarity scoffs sarcastically and I just looked at her. "Ya know, sometimes you amaze me Rare." She just giggles and I keep staring at her. "For goodness sakes what on earth are you staring at?" Rarity exclaimed. A small smile crept on my face and I started moving my eyebrows up and down really quickly. "You." I replied. Rarity attempted to move her eyebrows as fast as me, but she can't and it always frustrates her. "God! I wish you would stop doing that AJ! You know I can't keep up with you!" Rarity throws her hands in the air and gives up. "Plus you look super weird when you do that." She said. I wiggle them one more time before saying, " I know." We both bust out laughing when Pinkie Pie comes over with out shake. "What are you guys laughing about?" Pinkie asked. I told her what I did and she said, "Applejack, sometimes I worry about you, anyways here is your super-duper-spectacular-couple shake!" After Pinkie Pie put it down, she bounced away cheerfully with her springy hair bouncing with her. Rarity and I both took a straw and started drinking out shake. I laid my hand down next to the glass cup for comfort. After Rarity tucked her hair behind her ear carefully to not snag any earrings, she gingerly laid her fingers on top of mine. I blushed a bit but kept drinking my shake. I didn't feel awkward, it felt right to have our hands this way. Rarity stopped drinking her shake and so did I, she looked like she wanted to talk. "So, you don't mind my hand on yours?" She asked. "No, not at all, why would I?" I asked her in return. "I dunno, I guess you're right, why would there be an issue?" she asked with a small giggle. We returned to our shake. We drank slowly in order to not get a brain freeze. We chit chatted about school and a few other things. Once we finished, we left Pinkie a tip and went up to the counter to pay for our meal. "Hey! How have you girls been?" Mrs. Cake asked us. "Good." We both replied at the same time. Mrs. Cake laughed and called us silly. I asked if Pumpkin and Pound were at the shop today and Mrs. Cake replied with, "Yes, they are, they're in the back with Mr. Cake if you girls would like to go see them for a minute." I looked at Rarity and she shrugged and said, "Why not?" We went into the back where we saw Mr. Cake trying to wrangle Pumpkin and Pound Cake into their play pin. Mr. Cake looks up and moves his hat out of his eyes. "Oh hey girls! I didn't expect to see you back here, sorry about the mess, these two won't go back in their play pin." We heard the twins giggling under a table and went to go check it out. When they saw us they ran out and gave us big hugs. "Hi Auntie Wawity and Appwejat!" They exclaimed. "Hey guys! How are you doing?" I asked. I shifted to my knees so my feet wouldn't fall asleep while squatting to their level. Pound Cake turned to me and said, "Good! We payin' hide and seek wif daddy." I laughed and poked his belly. "Oh you are, are you? I think your daddy wants you guys to play in your pin so he can work without having to worry about you guys." They gave us an "ohhh" kind of expression. "How about Auntie Rarity and I put you guys in y'all's pin?" They both smiled and started jumping up and down. "Otay otay otay!" They said. "Rarity held out her arms and bent over and asked, "Okay who wants me?" Pumpkin ran into her arms and Rarity scooped her up. "Guess that leaves Pound to go to Applejack, right Pound Cake?" Rarity asked him. "Ya!" he said as he held out his arms for me to pick him up. I scooped him up too and we carried them over to their play pin. After we put them in there they both poked their cheeks. Rarity and I rolled our eyes at one another and smiled. We leaned down and gave them each a cheek kiss and they gave us one each too. Pumpkin smiled and said, "Otay you tan go now!" And with that they began playing with their toys. We walked over to Mr. Cake who wiped his brow and said, "Phew! Thanks girls, I would have never gotten them in their play pin without your help." We had some idle chit chat with Mr. Cake before we left the shop. Once we were outside, I shaded my eyes from the sun and asked Rarity where we're going next. Rarity checked the time. "It's 2:15 right now so, would you mind going shopping with me now?" She asked. "Depends," I said, "on what were going shopping for." Rarity gave me a silly smile and said "Dress shopping!!!!" She exclaimed. "Oh boy," I thought to myself. "I guess we should look for dresses. It's just I don't have a date to the homecoming game..." I say kinda sadly. Rarity looks me in the eyes and says, "I wouldn't worry about that darling, you're beautiful, anyone would be lucky to have you as a date." She said as she smiled and unlocked her car and started getting in. I thought about what she said. She called me beautiful. We headed down to Rarity's favorite boutique (not her own) and looked for dresses there. We must have tried on a thousand dresses but none seemed to fit either one of us just right. They didn't scream out names when we tried them on. Rarity eventually got frustrated and gave up on the boutique. "You know what darling?" she asked. "Next weekend we're gonna make out own homecoming gowns." Rarity just strutted out of the store with me in tow. It was my turn to decide where to go to next. I decided on the movies. We'd stayed in the store for hours now and it was almost 6:30. Rarity drove us down to the movie theater and we got tickets for Beauty and the Beast. My favorite movie of all time. Now I don't want to give any spoilers but, I fell in love with the live adaptation of the movie! The entire time I laughed and smiled and cried when appropriate. Rarity seemed to enjoy herself too. I noticed she was looking at me more than the movie. I didn't look her direction though, I didn't want her to know I caught her. But when the Beast got hurt, Rarity took my hand when she saw me crying. Luckily it was dark so she couldn't see me blushing through my tears. I couldn't help but feel as if Rarity was trying to give me signals during the movie, but I was so absorbed I didn't want to interrupt the fun. After the movie it was about 8:45. "What shall we do now sugarcube?" I asked Rarity. It was her turn after all. "Haven't you caught on yet darling?" Rarity asked, "It's a surprise." I just rolled my eyes and went along with it. She started driving, and I noticed she was going to the city limits. "What are we doing?" I asked. "Don't worry about a think dear." Rarity said, but I was worried! We finally stopped in a wooded area between Ponyville and Canterlot. "What are we doing here?" I asked in a shaky voice. It honestly felt like a slasher movie. Rarity plugged in a CD and a romantic song began to play. It was one of my top five favorite romantic songs of all time. It was also Rarity's. As "I only have eyes for you" progressed, Rarity began talking. "Applejack...darling," Rarity said as she took my hand, "there's....um....something I must confess." I felt like my heart was going to fall out of my butt. "I...I...um...." That's as far as she got before she grabbed my face and kissed me.
