I woke up with a minor headache and some strange girl lying beside me, I looked at her bare body with a disgusted expression on my face. Why didn’t I get the same thrill out of it anymore? They didn’t excite me anymore, their touches didn’t arouse me and every morning was the same, regretful. This was no longer enjoyable.

My wolf was upset and fed up, he wanted the real deal, he wanted our Mate. And fuck, I did too. I ran a hand over my face and got out of bed.

How could I still not have my mate at the age of twenty-one? I was an alpha without a mate. What kind of joke was that? I changed into some pants and stormed downstairs while telling Jay, my house keeper to get rid of the girl, not that she needed a reminder, this happened so often she knew what to do.

She nodded her head and scampered off, fear evident in her eyes.

I entered my office while looking over my agenda, it was crammed with several things I had to do, meetings I had to attend, territories I had to look over, agreements and papers I had to conform…but most annoying was speaking with other neighboring packs.

"Claire!" I yelled, a small woman stormed in.

"Alpha, you called." 

"Of course I called, don't play stupid with me." she lowered her head and apologized. Lately I had been in a horrible mood. 

"What do I have planned for today?” I demanded.

She stuttered a bit before answering, I growled. “There is still that prominent meeting with Alpha Cole, he has been trying to get a reach of you for weeks now.” I snorted. "Alpha Cole has been seeking peace-" I snickered 

"Such a foolish man." I muttered while bitterly laughing. “Call Luan,” I said suddenly, I had a plan. I smiled wickedly. “and Claire,” she looked at me insecurely. "Tell Alpha Cole I will be accepting his invitation." I said with a cruel smile on my face.

Luan at that moment entered my office, "You're accepting his peace treaty?" He said dumbfounded.

"Not precisely, but I do have a few things to discuss with him, maybe a buy and sell. He does have plenty of land I wish to get a hold of." Luan looked me over with an expressionless face, but I knew he was not approving of this.

“We already have plenty of land…” I narrowed my eyes at him.

“Don’t fight me Luan.” I said infuriated. “Now both of you, Out!” the both left, Claire a bit frightened and Luan a bit disappointed.

Just a few minutes after that came slight knocks on my door, annoyed by the person behind the door I didn’t answer, ‘What was she doing here?’

However what irked me more was the fact that she just walked into my office without my word.

"What are you doing here?" Stacey happened to be part of Cole's pack, she was quite the hussy.

"I missed you," she came and sat on my lap as I took a drag from my cigarette. Her touch wasn't the same, it was cold and sickly disgusting. All women had just seemed to repulse me.

"Go back to your pack." I sneered out and shoved her off, she seemed taken aback, I wasn’t usually this rude. 

"What crawled up your butt and died?" I didn't take her teasing to well, I grabbed her by the arm and roughly pulled her in.

"Stacey, you don’t talk to me that way," I said tossing the cigarette on the ashtray. She cringed "Don’t think about coming back into my land, you disgust me.” I tossed her out of my office and just a few moments after Luan my beta came in again.

"Finally got fed up with the child?" he said tediously.

I glared at him.

"Alpha Cole said it would be a pleasure to have you tonight." He drawled out.

"Good, maybe I'll let him know about his annoying pack females." I bitterly though back to Stacey, Luan laughed.

“You never found them annoying before, what brought this change?” he said curiously. I ignored him and walked back to my desk.

"Well since we’re on the topic," I looked up at him interested. "There's a new female in Cole’s pack and she’s high priority." I slammed my fist on the table enraged by the fact that he had new wolves joining. But then I realized what he had said,

"High priority?" I asked curiously.

"Her name is Alexandra and that's his...daughter, alpha female." I stood stunned. "She's quite the looker and she has a spunky manner. Luna quality don’t you think?" he hinted, like if I would ever mate with one from Cole’s Pack, they were weak.

"Well,” a wicked idea passed through my head. "we might be paying her a visit as well."

"What do you plan?" Luan said a bit regretful he brought her up.

"Making the treaty with Cole much easier…on our part."

"The treaty? Him giving us half his land? You’re considering it now?"

"He might have a different mindset if his precious daughter where to be...kidnapped. And not just half his land."

"Alpha don't you think that would be taking it too far?" Luan said truthfully shocked.

"That wouldn't look well upon our neighboring packs or set a good name for us."

"Luan! Don't question me!" he shook his head in disapproval and apologized.

"This just isn't you Alpha." he said quietly. "You've turned cold." I growled, I’ve turned strong.

"I've turned into an Alpha that looks over his pack! This is for the pack!" 

"Your parents wouldn’t approve of the lifestyle you now live Klaudious." He said, but not as my beta, but as the friend I had grown with. But that was the past.

"Don't bring them up Luan!" 

"I'm sorry Alpha, but it's my duty as Beta to tell you when you're stepping out of line." He said coldly.

"Luan...”

"And as your friend-"

"Luan, you are dismissed." I said quietly. He stood quiet and stunned but reluctantly did as he was told.
