"Alexandra!" I couldn't hide forever, I knew that, but I could stall. Hopefully my mom would realize this was a mistake-a huge one! I didn't want to leave the place where I grew up, I didn't want to leave my friends and I sure as hell didn't want to leave my mom. Even if at the moment she was irritating me.

Plain and simple, I didn't want to leave!  "Alexandra Rosie Rene Huntington!" ugh! I got out from hiding under the bed. Not the best hiding spot but the closest one to my room, well in my room.

"Mom! I don't want to go! Please don't make me! Please." I walked into the kitchen, mom was packing me a lunch for the long trip. Looking at my mom for the last time really made me feel bad for throwing a tantrum all those times and getting into all that trouble as a child.

"Mom, please don't make me go, I'm going to miss you." I truthfully said.

"Oh baby, I know," she came over and wrapped me in her arms. "I'm going to miss you too, but I can't do anything. You need to visit your father. It was an agreement between us that I can’t break. I would if I could but your father-he's a very insistent Man.” She sighed defeated. “There's no negotiating with him unless he's the one doing the negotiating."

"Why does he finally want to play the 'Father' role?” I said annoyed. “He doesn't have the right mom!" I was furious, my father had never been there for me and now he wants to tear me apart from my life and have me come live with him. This was bull!

"Alexandra, your father isn't all to blame." I tried to look at her sharply. "There's things you don't know, things he did for your well being -our well being. Things he needs to explain now." I pulled away from her. "Please promise me you'll stay with your father over the summer and please promise me you'll listen to him."

"Mom-"

"Please! Promise me Alexandra." I nodded my head not being able to do anything else. "Okay, and try to remember what I said, he did a lot for you...for us. He just didn't know how to do it the right way but-" she started crying. "but he tried."

"Mom, did you and dad split up because of me?" I managed to squeak out, tears welling up in my eyes.

"No, of course not! We split up because things got difficult along the way, but you were never the reason." I knew she was lying, you could see it in my mom’s eyes, she still loved dad, how hadn't I seen this before? How could I be so clueless? How had I managed to break up my family? It was then that I knew what I had to do, I had to visit dad and have some questions answered and obviously fix things. I wiped away some fallen tears and collected some of my final stuff.

"Well I guess I'm ready." I said coming back inside the kitchen, determination written on my face. Mom noticed and gave me a small smile.

"Promise you'll call me and email me, and tell your father...tell him I said hi."

"Okay."

"So are you going to need a lift or are you fine getting a cab?"

"I think I'll get a cab to take me to the airport."  Leaving my mom was actually really hard, never had I thought I had grown so attached to her.
