Chapter 8

Emily's PoV

It had been a few days since we started working on the bikes. Jake had taken the first one apart and had shown me a few different things. I admit I was enjoying myself, in fact I no longer really thought about the Cullen's, I had Bella and Jake to keep me distracted and happy.

Jake was tightening something in place, while me and Bella sat and watched. A song came onto the radio and Bella immediately turned it off. 

I frown and Jacob stops and looks at her. 

"That songs good, you don't like it?" Jacob asks. 

"Um, I don't really like music anymore, kind of," she replies. I look at her confused. 

"Okay. No more music," Jacob states.

"So, we were thinking that, if we're going to do this every day, and hopefully we will, we have to, like, fit some homework in there somewhere," Bella says. I frown at this statement. 

"Really bells, I hate school, this is much more exciting," I reply. 

"I don't want billy, thinking we're a bad influence on you," she adds in. 

"Yeah you actually have a point," I say, thinking it over. 

"You influence me?" Jacob asks, "please."

"Are you.... We're older than you, so..." Bella starts.

"That makes us the influencer's and you the influencee," I say. 

"No, no, no," Jake replies, "My size and knowledge base actually makes me older than both of you." 

"Oh really," I say, challengingly. 

"Because of your general paleness and lack of know-how," he replies. 

"I convinced you to build two-wheeled death machines with me and my sister," Bella says. 

"Yeah, don't you think that makes you kind of young and naive?" I ask. 

"Okay so where do we stand?" Jake asks. 

"We're 35 and you might be 32," Bella says. 

"Come on," he complains.

Suddenly there is a knock at the door. 

"Yo, Jake, you in there?" I hear someone ask. 

Me and Bella look at each other and then back at Jacob. 

"No, it okay, it's just my boys," he says to us. 

"Hey Jake," one says. 

"Hey guys, this is Bella and Emily," Jake introduces. I wave in response.

"Bella, Emily that's Quil and Embry," Jake informs us.

"So the bike-building story's true," Quil says. 

"Oh, yeah, yeah. We taught him everything he knows," Bella says. 

"What about the part where you're his girlfriend?" Quil says.
