In The End; I Lost It All
Chapter 14- The Pitt's Honeymoon in Italy
(Jake's POV)
After the long journey from LAX to the Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (or in Italian it's known as the "Fiumicino - Aeroporto Internazionale Leonardo da Vinci"), Avril and I finally land in Rome, Italy. We're both pretty tired as it was a long flight, and we both get pretty bad jet-lag. Currently, we are still on the plane, waiting for the signal to exit. A few minutes, later the intercom turns on and says we are allowed to exit our plane. I gently shake my gorgeous wife (I feel so lucky to call her that) awake.
She smiles up at me with her beautiful blue eyes and shiny blonde hair. I whisper that we can leave the plane, and she nods her head. We stand up and pull out our carry-on bags from the overhead compartments and make our way off the plane, heading into the terminal and out into the airport; aiming for the baggage claim. We finally make our way to our destination (as Avril speaks a little bit of Italian; which I knew nothing of). We grab our bags and head out of the airport.
Once outside, I notice a chauffeur holding up a big sign reading "The Pitts"; he asks if that is us, and we smile and nod yes. He opens his limousine door for the both of us and we get in; being the gentleman I am, I let my wife get in first and then get in behind her. He quickly takes us to our hotel, and we get out; heading inside the building. Once inside, we are greeted with our personal tour guide named Bella (I know; like the character from the Twilight Saga) who speaks both Italian and English; she first says to us (In Italian), "Ciao, Signor e Signora Pitts; Benvenuti in Italia. Ho fiducia che si aveva un bel matrimonio?" I look over at Avril to see if she knows what she said, but before she can respond, Bella replies back saying, "What I said was, "Hello, Mister and Mrs. Pitts; welcome to Italy. I trust you had a beautiful wedding?"
I nod my head and reply kindly, "We did, thank you. We look forward to seeing everything there is to see in this beautiful country." She smiles at me in a friendly manner and motions for us to follow her. Avril grabs her luggage and I grab mine, holding onto her hand with my other one. We make our way up to the top most part of the hotel to the honeymooner's suite. Bella opens the door for us, and we make our way into the room, setting our luggage down and heading out to eat a small lunch. When we make it to this small and cozy little café, Bella orders all of us a half portion of a portabella mushroom and mozzarella cheese Panini sandwich with homemade marinara sauce to dip it in; and boy, is it delicious! Avril thoroughly enjoyed it as well, and we make our way down to one of the most beautiful churches in Rome; The Papal Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican (Italian: Basilica Papale di San Pietro in Vaticano).
Bella asks us, ""Where do you come from?" We both reply back, "We come from the city of Los Angeles in California." She smiles and nods; whispering, "Such a beautiful city, although I have never been there." I then ask her, "And where do you come from, Bella?" She smiles and excitedly replies, "I come from the beautiful city of Verona; where Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet was based out of." We tell her that we would love to see Verona while we're here, and she says she'll definitely make that happen.
After a few hours out on the town and seeing everything there is to look at, we head back to our hotel for the night. We are both exhausted from the ling flight, plus being out all day after the fact.
When we make it back to our room, we find: a nice bottle of champagne, an extravagant dinner set up, and a box of chocolates waiting for us. We look in awe at the marvelous display, and sit down to a true Italian-style dinner; Lasagna with ricotta cheese and sausage, a Caprese salad (consisting of slices of tomato, mozzarella cheese, basil leaves, and olives). For dessert, we have some Tiramisu (which I myself am not fond of, and neither is Avril); instead we eat the whole box of chocolates and leave the Tiramisu on the plate and set it in the refrigerator.
