Chapter 6- Meeting Jake's Family

*Skipping a couple months since Jake and Avril's first kiss; they are officially a couple now, and Jake is having her meet his dad, Mark and sister, Sarah.*

(Jake's POV)

It's been a couple months now, and Avril and I are officially together. I look forward to introducing her to my family, hoping they love her as much as I do. I know she's been looking forward to it since we had our date at the coffee shop. I head over to the living room to see my gorgeous girl playing with Trixy and Ernie, and I can't help but chuckle to myself. I walk over slowly and sit on the couch, pulling Avril closer to me and she smiles. Trixy jumps up into her lap and rubs her head on my hand, and I scratch it softly smiling at her goofiness. Ernie becomes jealous and butts in, pushing Trixy out of the way and snorts in his cute little way. Avril laughs at this, and then lays her head on my shoulder. I grab a hold of her hand, kissing it softly and she looks up at me with her sparkling blue eyes and beautiful white smile.

I quietly whisper, "So, I talked with my dad and sister last night, and they asked if they could meet you in person in 2 weeks, since we have vacation time up until a few days after New Year's and whatnot..." She replies, "Sure I'd love to meet your family. I hope they'll like me." I chuckle quietly responding, "Of course they will; I'm sure they'll love you. Just be yourself." She smiles and we continue to cuddle on the couch, eventually falling asleep.

*Skipping 2 weeks later, Jake and Avril are in Maui, where Mark (Jake's dad) lives. His sister Sarah, is visiting as well with her two children, Aidan and Minka (which are their real names, btw)*

(Avril's POV)

We (Jake and I) got to Hawaii today around 11:00 a.m. and decided to head to Jake's dad's house so we could get settled in and unpack our clothes and toiletry items. After unpacking everything, we head out to the living room so I can meet Mark first. Jake grabs my hand in a comforting manner, squeezing it ever so gently and leads me into the living room. "Dad, I'd like for you to meet Avril. Avril, this is my dad, Mark Pitts."

He stands up, walking towards me. I give him a kind, warm-hearted smile and he pulls me in for a hug immediately. "It is such a pleasure meeting the woman who stole my son's heart," I blush a little at this statement, and reply, "I believe it is the other way around, Jake stole my heart." He chuckles softly, almost like a wind chime blowing in the breeze. "I like her, son; keep her around for a long long time." Jake laughs a little, wrapping his arm around me, gently whispering in my ear, "See, I told you he'd love you."

A few seconds pass and I hear the doorbell ring and a young woman's voice call out to Mark. She walks into the foyer, along with two small children who immediately run over to Jake, engulfing him with hugs; one being a little boy around 6 or 7 years old and the other being a little girl about 4 or 5. He smiles— picking them up and kissing them softly on the heads; setting them back on the ground. The little boy looks over at me, and says to Jake, "Uncle Jake, she's pretty!"

I then realize that this young woman is his older sister, Sarah. She hugs me and smiles, giving me a good look before saying, "Oh I already like her, I can tell she's a lot nicer and prettier than Ella was." I giggle a little at this, and she lays a hand on my shoulder, smiling kindly at me. I tell her, "It is so wonderful getting to meet you, Sarah. Jake's said nothing but kind words about you." She smiles and responds, "The same to you, Avril. Jake has been talking about you non-stop. I know that you are a perfect match for my brother. You've made him smile again, after being heartbroken by Ella, so I thank you from the bottom of my heart." I nod my head, as if to say 'You're Welcome.'

We all head into the living room, and I immediately notice a picture on the wall and recognize the woman to be Jake's mom, Carolyn. I look at her picture closer and see a lot of Jake's features matched hers; same brown eyes, and pearly white smile. I smile looking at the picture, when I hear someone softly clear their throat. I turn around and see Jake, wiping away a stray tear that has fallen.

"There's not a day that goes by that I don't miss her... it seems so surreal that she passed away," he says, his voice quivering with each word. I hug him tight against me, running my fingers through his hair in a soothing manner. He wraps his arms tight around me, afraid I'll leave him if he lets go of me. I shush him gently, kissing his head and hear him sigh a little, calming down. I pull his rugged handsome face up to look into mine and whisper to him gently, "I will never leave your side, I am yours forever." He nods his head, and pulls me in for a loving kiss. We have a small make-out session, and head back to living room to chat more with Mark and Sarah. While we head back to the living room, I let Jake know that I am going to the bathroom real quick, and I'll be there in a few minutes.

(Now in Jake's POV)

As I enter the living room, I notice Aidan and Minka playing on the floor, and I smile sitting on the couch next to Sarah, who's watching them carefully. "Sarah," I say gently, getting her attention; she looks up at me and I continue speaking... "Be honest, what do you think of Avril?" She clears her throat and replies, "Jake, I truly think she is the perfect match for you. From everything I've noticed about her so far; starting with her cheerful personality, and kind, warm eyes; I truly think she is the one for you... a lot more than Ella, to be blunt."

I smile and nod my head, glad that my Dad and sister love her and want her to stay. I can definitely see me with her further down the road; the two of us raising my 10 kids from Ella, watching them grow up, get jobs they love doing, and make families of their own; growing old together.
