I KEPT RUNNING, my heart pounding heavily in my chest. The wolves kept chasing me, relentless, at high speeds. I knew I couldn't keep this up, I just couldn't. Not with their insane speed and not with the muscles in my legs burning.

After what seemed like hours, I stopped, barely able to catch my breath, and the five wolves gathered around me. Three were a dark grey, one was as black as night and the other one's coat looked like freshly fallen snow.

Snowflake (the white wolf's official nickname) came to me, a devilish glint in her eye. Behind her, the others started to turn from wolves into something more... recognizable. There were two girls and two boys, all different and all very, very human looking. The white wolf followed in suit, changing from a snow colored animal to a tall, blonde girl.

Well, it's now official-- I've gone insane.

The blonde girl- I mean, white wolf- God, this is confusing- took another step closer to me. Instinctively, I backed away. Not that it mattered, as the girl was in front of me in seconds.

"Who do you think you are coming into our territory like this?!" She pushed me down and put her foot on my chest. "I said, who are you?"

"Ryan!" I shouted, wanting her off of me. "I'm just Ryan!"

"Well, 'just Ryan', you think you're brave to come out here, don't you? Wrong, you're just stupid."

I glared at her hotly. "I'm not. I just changed into this beast, a wolf, and I ran into this forest!"

The five wolf-people hybrids gasped.

"You're tame?"

"What do you mean?"

"Are you Tame?" One of the males asks.

Blondie snorts. "Are you 'stupid' is a better question."

I cut across their shouts. "I don't know what you mean!"

The gorgeous girl sighs. "You really don't know what's happening, do you?"

"No, I don't!"

"Then tell me what happened to you", the girl demands simply. She settled herself onto the grass, smiling at me with a dangerous look in her clear eyes. She crossed her legs, pointing her dark brown boots towards me. "Well? Aren't you going to get started?"

"Oh honey, you're burning up!"

I was sweating like hell and my gums, limbs and skin felt like they were on fire. It was like something was trying to tear themselves out of me. My mother was trying to help me but it didn't succeed. My father was downstairs, calling an ambulance. That was when I felt my bones cracking and bending my gums felt like they were being pricked by thousands of needles. My teeth were aching and creeking agains each other, the friction building up, causing my gums to start to bleed.

My mother screamed, and stepped away from me in horror. I wanted to speak, but I couldn't. I saw my mother crying and scared and I saw a hairy nose as if I was seeing the view of a dog. It was me. I was a dog or a wolf, I didn't really care, I was too scared and in pain to think.

I ran out of the house, smashing through the front door, all my dad could do was stare as I ran, lower than I should have been, I was on all fours. I had black fur on me. My claws and I were strong. I ran into the forest. Still, I wanted to call help. but instead I howled. Over in the distance, I heard more howls and then spotted a group of wolves charging at me. All I could do was run.

Run for my life.

My new wolf life.

"Well, you can't go back now! Your "parents" know what you are and we'll be exposed!"

"What? No! They're my family!" I countered immediately.

"No, they are not", an around 70 year old women stated matter-of-factly.

I paused for a moment. "Wait, what?"

"What is your second name?"

"Jones. Ryan Jones"

The women gasped she went over to the older male and they whispered to each other.

"Ryan... you're supposed to be in our pack."

"Huh?"

"Your mother- your real one- left you with Snow one day..."

"Who the hell is Snow?"

"I-I am", the beautiful girl whispered.

"You and Snow were taken by a enemy pack and were going to be killed, but your mother came after you and rescued you. She hid you out of sight from the enemy pack and went back for Snow... but... she was killed. Our pack saved Snow but we couldn't find you. We thought they killed you. We found out you were alive and in the human world, we couldn't come get you."

I sat down, taking in what has happened. My whole life, I thought I was safe, with my family, when in fact I now know they aren't even related to me and I'm a... werewolf?

"So, we're werewolves?"

"Wolfblood, we turn wolf on full moons or at times of need."

"Okay", a young man said. "Welcome to the pack."

"Oh, we forgot to introduce ourselves! I'm Maggie, but you can call me Mags, this is Snow, Alaric"- pointing at the young man- "This is Heath"- pointing at the older guy-"and Amelia, mine and Heath's daughter"-pointing at the quiet little girl looking around.

Alaric looks around authoritatively. "Alright. now that we have that sorted lets get back to camp"

"Okay, come on, Amelia"

"Coming, mother"

I followed my new (old?) pack. I was able to turn back to a wolf like it was a switch. I don't know why I immediately accepted them, but maybe it was a wolf instinct. Either that, or I'm crazy.

We ran like there was no tomorrow.
