Chapter 1 - The Newbie Quest

~Luc's point of view~

"Luc, you did good yesterday! We were lucky that the bandits decided to attack when we had one of ours on the team, the king paid very well." Ineci says and smiles at me as I entered the room. It is as empty as usual around this time. Wonder what the quest will be this time. Hopefully it's a one day trip.

"Any new missions?" 

"Yes there is one actually. There is something in the woods north of Skargi lake, the wildlife has been acting weird and we sense a strong magical power coming from within the forest. We need someone to check it out." The sun shines through the window and hit the board where countless papers in different colors and sizes is hung up.

"Aren't those quest for new members? Why do I get something like that, I do elite quest." I say and frown, it's okay with easy quest sometimes but they're often boring. Quest where you're just suppose to check on things is the worst. 

"Well now there isn't any elite quest available but also there is something weird over this whole situation. It may be bigger than we think, first we didn't even know if we would dare send you or if one of the teachers would go."

"How come?" I ask and she hesitates before she answers. 

"The magic coming from it is not just powerful but an ancient magic that can manipulate time and space and create a sort of transportation spell. For example we say you stand where you stand now and I over here casts the spell at where you are, you will then get sucked into the spell and in less than a second you will be standing in front of me instead. So you may understand that we don't want a beginner running in on this quest." She looks concerned at me and wait patiently for my answer. 

"Alright I'll be careful, I can handle it"

"Take care."

"I can feel it from here, it's uncomfortable." Vöbuya says and gives off a complaining sound. The air outside is unpleasantly warm and everything is in some weird calm state. You can feel the tension in the air.

"It sure reminds me of the old days. How people liked to mess with these spells back in the days, sure was amusing to watch people get sucked in and dropped high above ground." Lealeath grins and lift his tail for it to fall down again, creating a small breeze that makes the dry dust whirl up from the ground. 

"Savage" Tenn says and grins back chuckling at Lealeath.

"Why did it die out?" I ask and start to tie my shoelaces.

"Well manipulating with time and space is never good and the world was heading towards it's downfall. We dragons were first to notice and our elder contacted the humans and that's how the druids were created and the nice nature magic." I start walking up Lealeaths wing and seat myself just above them on his back. He start stretching his wings and soon we're up in the cool air.

"Yeah, everyone learn that story as you start at the academy, just a beautified version it seems. According to the druids it was a terrible monster that you dragons asked us to help with, seems that they really don't want to mention anything about the time and space magic." 

"Well of course, what if someone gets interesting in it and decides to research it, you know how villains in stories usually is created right?" He chuckles underneath me. 

"Wait, so it was you who told them to not say anything?" 

"Yes, I was one of the ones that were sent out. My job was to come up with a cover so that it may not happen again."

After some time the air start to become warm even at the height we're flying. There is not a single breeze in the trees and up ahead there is something in the air. Lealeath lands by the weird shimmer in the air and I hop down.

"We're here" says Vöbuya and walks closer towards the shimmer. 

"I can feel it, and see it." I say and walk after him.

"It's a weird red and purple shimmer in the air it's probably the spell, we shouldn't go near it." Says Tenn and run up to us. 

"Lealeath" I say and glance back at him. 

He nods and suddenly everything I see is filled with color. I can see my hair in the corner of my eye turn from light brown to white because I'm lending his powers.

The green leaves of the trees the red and brown coat of Tenn. Then I notice the spell. It is like the air has changed color and is changing from red to purple and back like a dance. I walk closer and look puzzled at it.

"We've checked it out, now what are we supposed to do?" I turn towards my spirits but suddenly a strong wind comes from behind. I turn around to find the spell already upon me and I take a urgent step back but I don't even have time to react before I'm no longer in the woods I know and everything is back to grey.
