Being With Him: Chapter 8

Chad was standing in front of me and he entwined his hand with mine.

“Kris, I want to tell you something important,” he had a big smile on his face. I felt excited and kinda nervous on what he’s gonna tell me.

“Sure. What is it?”

“Will you---“

“Waaaaaake up!!!!” I felt someone yelled on my ear.

“What the fuck!” I accidentally fell from my bed. I saw Aulicia smirking at me. “What do you want?!?”

“Nothing. Your mom told me to wake you up, that’s all,” her smile eventually turned into a sheepish one.

“Just for that you ruined my almost-best-dream of my life, do you know that?”

“I’m sorry,” she sheepishly smiled at me again.

“It’s okay. Just get downstairs cause I’ll just change,” with that she immediately left my room and went downstairs.

I opened my closet and grab a clean jeans and a black v-neck tee. And before I leave my room, I put on my black ballet flats and grab my backpack.

Aulicia and I left my house and went to school using her car. When we arrived at Foley High, we saw students huddling and we could also hear them cheering like there was a fight that’s going on.

“Stay here Aul. I’ll just check on what’s happening,” I immediately went to where the crowd was and I was shocked to see…. Chad and another guy fighting? I can’t believe that Chad is involved here.

I immediately went to him and stopped him before this fight gets deeper. “Chad! What is this? Why are you fighting early in the morning?” I kinda yelled at him. Look who will not even be mad after what he did. I waited for him to answer but instead he just walked away.

“So what was it about?” Aulicia ran to me and asked about the fight.

“I don’t know yet. And that’s the thing I need to know,” with that I left and followed the way where Chad went to.

I searched for him everywhere. I even asked Andrew where he was but he also didn’t know. When school was over, I thought to walk home and check if he’s around town by himself. When I passed by a park, I saw a guy standing from afar. I thought that maybe it was Chad, so I yelled his name and it’s good to know that it was really him. I ran to him and hugged him tight. It felt like forever that I hadn’t seen him.

“Where have you been? I looked for you everywhere,” my eyes seemed to be watery.

“I’m so sorry. I just wanna be alone. Did I worry you?”

“Of course, I don’t want to lose you,” I can’t help but to kiss him. He kissed me back passionately this time. I really love the way he kiss me. It feels so gentle and sweet.

“I.Love.You,” he mumbled while we kissed.

I broke apart and saw him smiling at me. I just looked at him and cherished the moment we are having.

“Is this the part where you say yes when I ask you if you want to be my girlfriend?” he asked me while putting a cute bracelet with our initials on it on my wrist.

“Well…. OF COURSE!” I kissed him on his cheek and hugged him tight. I just can’t believe that I got my  first boyfriend. And I hope he’s the last too.

When it was getting dark, we decided to go home. He stopped his car in front of my house and he gave me a quick kiss before I went inside.

“Good night Kris.”

“Good night,” he caressed my face and I felt his soft hands touched my cheek.

As I got inside the house, he left. I just feel so happy to be with him. I just love the times I am with him. I’ve never felt like this before.

When I was about to sleep, the telephone rang. I immediately answered to know who it was.

“Hello?”

“Is this the Jobbs residence?”

“Yes, may I know who this is?” I felt that something isn’t right.

“I’m calling from the White Memorial Medical Center and we would just like to inform you that Kristinna Jobbs got into an accident and she’s here still unconscious. We need her family member/s here right now to do some further interviews.”

My mom..s-she got into an accident? “Okay I’m coming,” I immediately hung up and changed.

I dialed Chad’s number on my phone and told him to meet me at the hospital. I got a cab to get me to the hospital and I asked the nurse who was in the information desk and asked her where my mom was, she told me to go to the operation room.

When I was there, I waited for the doctor to come out from the room. And when she was out she told me that the operation was done and she needs to be transferred to the ICU to make sure she was okay.

“Are you her daughter?” the doctor asked me.

“Y-yes,” tears ran down from my eyes to my face. “ I-is she okay now?”

“We just need to check on her once in a while. We can’t say that she’s okay now cause she’s still unconscious. Just stay calm and be brave as possible because we will never know what will happen next.”

As she said those words more tears fell from my eyes. I just couldn’t imagine myself without my mom. She was always there for me. I’m not ready to lose her right now. I need her.

“Kris! What happened? Are you alright?” I saw Chad running towards me.

“Mom. She got into an accident. She’s in a critical situation now. They said that her head was severely injured.”

“Don’t worry Kris. I know she’ll wake up and she’ll see you,” he hugged me and comforted me. I’m so thankful to have Chad here beside me.

Three days have passed but mom isn’t awake yet. Everyday I get worried about her situation. I hope that she will wake up sooner.

“Hey Kris. How’s your mom?” Aulicia entered the room together with Andrew.

“There’s still no progress. She’s still unconscious,” I felt sad again.

“Just believe in yourself. Don’t lose hope okay? I know that your mom is fighting hard just to be with you,” she looked at me and smiled. This time it was different. I know that there’s the sympathy within it.

“Thank you Aul. By the way, where’s Stefen?”

“Oh! He can’t go cause he’s making his project in Biology.”

“Okay.”

“Kris, Chad said that he’ll go here later after his practice,” I saw Andrew smiling at me, so I smiled back.

“Guys could you stay here for a little while? I’m just going outside to buy some food.”

I went out of the room and I saw Nick walking towards me. “Kris! How’s your mom? Is she okay?”

“She’s kinda fine Nick. But she’s unconscious and needs to be checked once in a while. I’m glad you came,” I tapped his shoulder to make him calm.

“Sorry if I’m late. I just got  an errand from Mrs. Yu and her husband.”

“Oh-ho-kay.”

Sorry if it’s soooo short. I’m just tired right now. But I’ll try to make it longer next time :))
