We march in rhythm, through the seasons
Off stone-paved roads, to worlds unknown
Crossing foreign lands discovering new regions
travelling far we're a thousand leagues from home;
On a perilous journey facing our demons
We're Legions of Rome

We march,
to the sweeping plains of North Africa
into the black forests of Germanica
We march,
into the frozen lands of Britannica
to the white cities of Greece & Macedonia

We sail,
Without question to the far coasts of Arabia
To wealthy Kingdom's of Pathia & Armenia
We sail,
To the Egyptian coasts with the wind in our favour
Across the Black Sea, along the Silk Road to Asia

What awaits us...
Beyond uncharted waters?
What awaits us...
Beyond our own protected borders?

The sacred golden Aquila standards fly
from dusk to dawn
Valiant across the open sky
They lead the columns through the storm,
Wings outstretched lift the soldier's spirits high

On the frontier, we're surrounded by horrors
Even the bravest are frightened
by sudden terrors,
that dwell deep in the heart strengthened
by the fear of our own foolish errors

Battle-scarred veterans
Increase morale & rally the wavering men
against barbarians & titans,
For honour & glory or glory die with them

When all seems lost in, disarray
Courageous centurions
lead the cohorts into the fray
Only victorious champions
Will rise at the end of the day

What awaits us...
Beyond uncharted waters?
What awaits us...
Beyond our own protected borders?

In the haze; dust appears on the horizon
As the earth's heart trembles with vibration
Steady; We hold our battle formation
Silent; We gaze in anticipation
When faced against armoured giants
Of trumpeting Seleucid & Carthaginian
mighty war elephants

The ground beneath us begins to shake
Frightened; We hold fast
To the rumbling of an earthquake
Restless; We know the worst is yet to pass
As rolling thunder echoes; We hear the quake
Of roaring Persian cataphracts charge at last

Galloping at full stride; Light & fast they come
firing mercilessly & viciously
As endless waves of arrows block out the sun
Remembering our training we form a Testudo flawlessly
As Parthian horse archers fire relentlessly
Splinting & breaking shields until we fall or run

What awaits us...
Beyond uncharted waters?
What awaits us...
Beyond our own protected borders?

Gallic & Germanic Barbarian hordes
Rally in their mass numbers
Fuelled by their witch-craft & barbaric lords
Disciplined; Commanding Officers
Animate the spirit of a thousand roman swords
Against the hundred thousand tribal warriors
United under one banner riding across the ford

On the steep slopes of mountainous terrain
Two armies clash in a hostile confrontation
Exhausted; We look to our heroic Generals
As lines of men engage a phalanx formation
of Greek Scared band & Spartan soldiers

What awaits us...
Beyond uncharted waters?
What awaits us...
Beyond our own protected borders?

The mighty hand & sword of Roman War, Knows no bounds.
All will feel the wrath & subject to Roman law
Even Kings & Queens that wear their crowns
Will bend the knee or perish & fall.

- Horace

Quae caret ora cruore nostro?

What coast knows not our blood?

- Gaius Julius Caesar

Veni, Vidi, Vici.
I came, I saw, I conquered.
