You absolutely hated school.

Not only that, but you knew there was seriously something wrong with the education system. The majority of the teenagers prayed for death, or had or wished for some sort of mental illness such as depression, because of all the stress school put kids through! And nobody stops to think: "Hey, maybe we should change things up a bit, make school less stressful for children!" No. They think that our generation is just plain messed up, and don't stop to think about the possible cause.

"It's all in your head." They say. Uh, no. Your brain is an organ, meaning it can be just as dysfunctional as any other organ. So telling someone with a mental illness, "it's all in you head, it doesn't exist". Is like telling someone with asthma, "it's all in you lungs, it doesn't exist".

But one of the things you hated most about school, other then the flawed system, crappy food, and fact you had to get up at sunrise everyday, was music class.

That's right, music class.

Yes, (playing an instrument/singing) was something you enjoyed to do. But not when you were given five separate songs, a month and a half to learn them perfectly, and an requirement to join some sort of musical club after school.

You. Hated. It. All.

So, here you were, on a chilly autumn night, walking home after dark from Music Club. You carried a heavy backpack full of homework assignments, including your (music folder/and instrument) , which you were not looking forward to opening when you got home.

To be honest, you were surprised that your parents didn't offer to pick you up. After the attempt those dinosaur guys, and the Kraang had made to take over the planet about three weeks ago, the city had been on high alert. Maybe your parents just assumed everyone was safe now? You didn't know.

Your phone buzzed. You took it out of your back pocket, turning it on, you had a text from a guy named Casey. Frowning, you stared at it.

Yo, wat I supposed 2 do for my part again

Grumbling, you texted him back.

Pages 8-12

He replied almost instantly.

K thx

You rolled your eyes. Casey, you, along with two other girls named Kiki, and Alexandria, and a guy named Seth, had been assigned to do a math packet together. It was due next week Monday, and all of you hated it. Thankfully, you would have the weekend to do it. Sadly though, it was only Tuesday.

"Hurry!" A guff voice projected from an alleyway nearby, "Master Shredder needs as much mutagen as he can get! He's finally awake! And the healing process will take everything we have!"

"Alright, okay!" Another voice sounded, this one with a thick accent, "I understand! But Bradford, why couldn't Beebop and Rocksteady do this?"

"Because they would mess it up!" 'Bradford' answered his partner.

"You have a fair point."

Curious of what you were hearing, you silently placed your backpack down on the ground, peaking ever so slightly around the corner, facing the alleyway. It took every bit of your will power not to make a noise, knowing anything could tip the two creatures off in front of you, that someone as watching.

There was a cyborg looking fish creature, and a somewhat skeletal dog thing. They were hauling large glowing cans of 'mutagen', as they had said, into a van.

You didn't know what to do.

They would eventually discover you, there was so doubt about that in your mind. You wouldn't have been able to walk past them before, even if you hadn't stopped to check what was going on, because you would have seen them. But now that you knew there was danger, you knew there was nothing you could do to stop the inevitability they would kill you.

But, because your "friend" Casey had such wonderful timing, you didn't have more then a few seconds to begin to think of a plan. Because your phone buzzed.

I think I lost the packet

"Did you here that!?" Bradford asked.

"Faintly." The fish replied.

You made a mental note. If you survived this, you were going to strangle Casey.

You grabbed your heavy backpack, slinging it over your shoulder and diving behind a van parked a couple cars back. Hoping the others cars would block any view of you, and he wouldn't attempt to sniff you out.

Unfortunately, he did just that. And did it completely cliché as well. There was a moment of silence, like in horror movies. You sat perfectly still, your back against the car, holding your breath. He then let out a terrifying growl, jumping on top of the van, staring down at your curled up figure.

You let out a scream, chucking your backpack at him, the weight of the bag almost knocking him off the van. You ran, bolting down the street, but the fish guy was one step ahead of you. Or fin. Whatever you would call it. Grabbing you, he pulled, causing you to sprawl onto the ground. Scraping your knee in the process.

Screaming again, you covered your eyes, waiting for one of them to kill you.

Or, at least do something.

But they didn't, all you heard was some grunts, and the occasional hiss of pain. As if someone was fighting the two creatures. But that was impossible, right? No cops were nearby, because you would hear the sirens, and it's not like there were superhero's in New York or anything.

You opened your eyes, moving your hands away from your face. The dog and fish were lying on the ground, as if they had been knocked over. But what could have? If it was a car it surely would have hit you too... Getting up, you scanned the area. There didn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary, other then the two creatures of course.

There was part of an egg shell near by, and a piece of cloth with it, a rubber band a few feet away from them, but it's not like that had any significance. Just trash.

You sighed, shivering a little, and hugging yourself tight. You made your way to your backpack, picking it up, and slinging it over your shoulder. Then you noticed a gleam out of the corner of your eye, by the dog man.

Quietly sneaking over, you picked the gleaming object up. It was the same color as the grayish-black road, so you wouldn't gave noticed it if it wasn't so shiny. It appeared to be some sort of throwing star, with a flower like symbol on it.

Couldn't it have been ninjas that saved you?

No... There was no ninjas in New York. Right?

Shaking your head, you slipped it into your backpack. The creatures could have been carrying it, maybe they stole it from an antiques store or something. You would keep it, because it could come in handy in the future if you ever needed to defend yourself against the Purple Dragons or something. And if not, it could always be used as a letter opener.

You decided to continue on your way home.

---

From the rooftops, four brothers watched you.

One of them, wearing blue, clicked his tongue. "Guy's, this is a problem, who didn't pick up all of their throwing stars?"

"Not me," one in red grunted, "I was careful this time."

"Let's just take them out," the brother with a purple mask stated, "we're supposed to have thirty each."

The four took out their collections of throwing stars, each taking a turn to counting them out loud, the one in orange, only had twenty-nine.

"Mikey!" The three hissed.

Mikey cheekily smiled, "oops."
