"Yup. I'll make sure to use our friendship with the Government of America to get you out." Ethan nodded, smiling at Heath.
He just bribed him! Asshole.
Heath gave him a megawatt smile, getting up from his seat.
"Perfect! Forget about why, just count me in. I'm gonna go now and pack-"
"Sit the fuck down! We are NOT fucking going anywhere! For fuck's sake, my brother's in surgery. DO YOU HEAR THAT ETHAN?! In SURGERY! With no updates on his health. I'm not leaving him here, and not tonight!" I exclaimed, throwing my hands in the air.
Ethan straightened in his chair, sighing.
"And that is exactly why you need to go."
"Excuse me?!"
I was on the verge of yelling at him.
"Alora. Think. Kerrigans know Travon's in hospital or more importantly which hospital he is in." Ethan said, looking at me.
"What the fuck is there to think?!! I want to ensure that my brother get back on his feet without any more delays! And that can only be done if I keep an eye on him and-" My eyes went wide as realizations hit me like a train.
Kerrigans never attack Travon.
They know he's too high up reach for their petty tricks but they did it this time. They didn't even come after me like they always do. Instead, they directly went after Travon and they succeeded in their mission.
And now, Kerrigans know. They know, he's in hospital, getting treated for the shit they did to him.
And they also know, I'd be here, keeping an eye on him, ensuring he got the best treatment and I was their second, last target.
They'd know where I am and they'd do anything in their power to cut the family tree of Pierce family, to end it forever and since we two are the only living branches of it. That means, I'm next.
I don't care about myself. I mean, I do care but not as much as I care about my brother or innocents.
Kerrigans will attack this hospital to get to me since it's the only place they're sure that I'll be. And that'll not only result in the death of my brother, if something goes wrong but also millions inside this very building.
It'd be a catastrophe and bloodshed everywhere and all of it would be on my hands. My responsibility.
If I even thought of transferring Travon to a different hospital, it'd be useless. Their mercenaries might be sitting outside the hospital right now, watching every man, woman who left through those doors. For all I knew, the woman sitting in front of us could be reporting back to them. The cameras might be all controlled by them.
Everything was uncertain with this much crowd. But I was certain about one thing, I wouldn't let the death of anybody, not one, not hundreds, be on my hands.
Even if it meant I had to go away.
"You got it, didn't you?" Ethan asked.
I nodded, swallowing the lump in my throat.
"Alora, I promise we'll take care of Travon for you. With the circumstances, I don't think we'll be getting the report from doctors, any time soon so, you'll have to leave without it but as soon as we'll get any word, we'll contact you. For all we know, Travon might just be getting up tomorrow morning. And as soon as he's up and out it this place, you can come back. That's one of the reason why we chose Arizona. It's just an hour and half flight. You can come back within hours if there's an emergency. How does it sound?" Ethan finished, turning to look at me.
