Jack's gun shook in his hand as he unsteadily aimed. He was surprised it hadn't fired already with his fingers twitching nonstop. The gun pointed towards the creature who hadn't seemed to notice his arrival. He desperately tried to pull the trigger, but he couldn't. He knew he couldn't. He knew they were just people whose minds had gone to mush, there was no reason to kill them. Without realizing it, the gun fell from his hands onto the ground. What was left of the beast's eyes were now gazing into his. He cussed under his breath, knowing he had just made the biggest mistake of his life.
