Alpha, But Only By Two Hours

Chapter 1

I turned when I heard my name being called.

“Katerina! Jesus woman wait up” Sam, my best friend and soon to be forth in command exclaimed.

“Sorry. My mind’s all over the place at the moment. You know the ceremony is in a week.”

The ceremony was where all the Alpha’s children who were 18 and older and ready to take over from their parents took the Alpha position. This ceremony had to be witnessed by at least one other pack and it’s Alpha, so my dad and our neighbouring packs Alpha had come to an agreement to combine our ceremonies, as his son also had to complete the ceremony.

“Yeah I know”.

Unlike most people in my year I tended to steer clear of the female population. All my friends were guys and I preferred it that way. A lot of girls thought that because I wasn’t friends with them it meant that I thought I was too good for them, but that wasn’t the case at all. I just hated all the bitchy and prissy behaviour. How they always had to have something better than their own best friend, I mean COME ON! Aren’t best friends there to be just that, a best friend.  They weren’t their to be somebody that you could easily manipulate and back stabbed for your own pleasure and believe me when I say I have been stabbed in the back. Literally. It also made it easier for me to control my emotions. Female wolves didn’t experience the mood swings and urges that a male wolf did, and if I wasn’t becoming Alpha then I wouldn’t be experiencing them either, but because I was it was hard to make and keep friends, especially female ones, that could just brush off and ignore your harsh remarks and violent behaviour, so after a few failed friendships I stuck to hanging out with my brother and his mates.

The bell rang signalling first period. Sam and I met up with Lex, Chase and a few of our other friends and walked into History.

Finally I thought as I walked into the cafeteria. First and second period had been a drag and although I learnt what I was supposed to I wished they could have become shorter, and less boring. Grabbing a tray I filled it with food. One thing you should know about werewolves we eat, A LOT. But then again I also seem to eat more than a lot of my friends which doesn’t always look so lady like. I was a growing Alpha and I needed my food. Sitting at our table I refrained from bringing up my food as I saw Chase my soon to be third in command devouring some girls face.

“Chase please, you know I don’t care what you do in your private time, but right now I am trying to eat!”.  Chase pulled back and grinned from across the table.

“Honey its ok I promise I’ll save some of this for you tonight”. I gave him a long, hard stare. One that said ‘really Chase’ as he averted his gaze to the girls face again only to see that she was glaring daggers at me.

“What’s your problem, can’t you just go sit somewhere else me and Chase were here first so if you don’t like what you see then, bye bye”. WHAT! Hold on wait was this girl five or was I just imagining it.

“Are you five?” I asked and the whole table erupted into laughter, I on the other hand didn’t find it funny, sure I was being sarcastic, but I had been raised to always be series because of my position in the pack so at times like this I really didn’t find anything funny.

“Excuse me, who do you think you are”. The laughter stopped and everyone turned to look at me. I clenched my jaw and shut my eyes fighting my wolf. Yeah I know I was over reacting but I couldn’t help it. Although I didn’t like being spoken to like that I would have let it slide, but my wolf was hell bent on breaking that girls neck for disrespecting her future pack leader.

“I’m sorry can you repeat that”. My voice was deadly calm, and it was times like this that everyone knew I was fighting my wolf and refraining from doing something that I would later NOT regret.
