Alia

Not hesitating for a single moment to see what it was, I carefully got up from the couch trying my best not to make noise. Feeling a small vibration in my back pocket from my phone, I felt quite obligated to ignore the notification for a few seconds as I had no clue of the situation that we might be dealing with.

Glancing behind me towards Drake and Connor, I could tell the boys figured out that I had a bad feeling for the last hour or so by the way I quickly went into protective mode. Pushing my self against the wall, I just heard complete silence, a silence that wasn't peaceful but more so earie and dark. It was as if the noise was by the cause of something falling over, or someone was trying to listen and figure out where we were.

The sense of security I had vanished quickly once I realized that my sense of uneasiness wasn't my anxiety talking but my fight-or-flight response warning me that something was actually wrong. Bending down against the wall as to keep my shadow low to the ground , I carefully slid out my phone to see Hailey texted me back with news confirming that the patrol car wasn't supposed to follow us back from the school, and whoever it was might be the suspect.

Before I could text her back that there might be someone in the house or attempting to break in when the soft click of the lock turned on the door, signaling that the door was now unlocked. Swiftly moving on my feet back into the bonus room, I signaled for Drake and Connor to get down and out of sight, and neither boy dared object seeing the fear in my eyes.

Knowing I had to get all of us out of the house and to somewhere safe or meet someone from Intelligence half way, I could only type out a quick message to Hailey before moving into action. A: We aren't safe. With those 3 words, I knew Intelligence would hop into action.

Slipping the phone away, I could hear the discreet sounds of someone's shoes walking on the tile floors in the kitchen, their rubber sole not yet accustomed or worn into the environment. Thinking quickly of all of the rooms in the house to get out of, I could only think of my old room which had a window facing a small thing of woods behind it, giving us a small thing of cover until we can call Hailey once we are far from the house. The only problem was one or all of us could get hurt jumping down and the window will be a tell tale sign that we got out of the house.

Not really liking any of the options that were appearing in my mind, I tried to look around the room for a possible weapon just in case I had to protect the two boys. Remembering the old baseball bat near Drake's bed for protection, I couldn't help but shiver at the rush of fear and adrenaline slowing through my body. I wouldn't be able to get there and back to my room without that person knowing.

Getting the boys to make their ways towards me as quietly as possible, I remained on edge listening to the unknown assailant currently downstairs. Starting to move out of the room, a muffled sound of a gun silencer caught my attention, the dull metal sound spinning into the place warned me that he was in fact going to kill us. Hearing the footsteps slowly and carefully start to make their way out of the kitchen and towards the stairs, I knew I had to get the boys into my old room and into the small panic room built into my closet or out the window.

Noting the mans shadow, I kept Connor and Drake low to the ground before nudging them softly across the stairs opening and to the safety of the half wall that will give them temporary cover. Motioning for them to sneak into my room, I watched anxiously as the two boy I cared about and listened for the intruder whereabouts. Taking note that he was about to turn onto the stairs and straight towards all three of us, I expertly dove across the hall landing with a silenced thud close to my bedroom door.

A shadow of a gun started raise on the wall as the light footsteps started to walk up the stairs as if they were trying to take us by surprise. Silently passing through my door way I did my best to close the door behind me without catching the guys attention. Quickly making my way towards the window I stared out many times before when I couldn't sleep, I softly undid the locks before sliding it open and peering down below. See a few bushes below that will cushion the fall, I moved back looking at the the boys, both of them looking at me completely terrified and tears falling down their face.
