Alia

Watching the fist come flying at me, I ducked under quickly before spinning on my feet to watch his movements. Currently I found myself in defense classes, after I begged dad to sign me up for some. I thought it would be a good idea to have some stuff under my sleeve just case I was put in a predicament.

Keeping my eyes on the man in front of me, I tried to catch slight movements for his next attack. With adrenaline rushing through me I was able to move a lot quicker, panting slightly from the intense work out I was going through, I didn't want to stop. This was going to save me in a life or death situation.

Noticing a slight movement from his foot, I dodged the attack. Holding my hands up in a defensive position, I started to walk around the boxing ring the trainer doing the exact same. Every fight not one person stays still, you have to keep moving.

Stepping forward slightly, the trainer stepped back in surprise. Quickly moving back to avoid a counter strike, I kept my eyes appealed. Hearing the buzzer go off behind us, the two of relaxed. Breathing heavily, I high-fived Antonio, the Latino man grinning madly. "You are getting better everyday."

Hopping out of the ring, I waltzed over to where my dad was sitting, a proud look on his face. Glancing at the man behind me, the two man did their bro handshake. "Thanks man, I really appreciate you helping out"

"Hey, anything for family". Although Antonio Dawson retired from the police force, he was still helping out. Grabbing my bag from the bench, my dad and I walked out of the boxing gym.

Climbing into the truck, I took a sip out of my water bottle needing something to cool me off. We were driving towards the apartment when his phone chimed. Glancing at me, I nodded at him. "I will stay in the car"

So turning the truck around, the two of us made small talk until he arrived at the crime scene. Nodding my head that I would be fine, he turned off the engine before handing me the keys. "Lock the doors, text me if you need me"

"You got it, also tell Intelligence I said hi". Chuckling softly he grabbed his badge before shutting the door. Immediately locking the doors, I pulled out my phone to play a game.

Mid game of angry birds, a loud sound caught my attention. Quickly locking my phone, I looked around me to try and figure out what was actually happening. Usually nothing happens at a crime scene.

Yelling starting to go down, and a bad feeling started to pool in my stomach. Trying not to worry myself, I closed my eyes. Only once i opened them, my eyes met Hailey's frantic figure running towards the car. Quickly unlocking it, I could see the tears in her eyes. "Hailey, what's going on"

Seeing the blonde trying not to freak me out, she held my shoulders, a calm look washing over her even thought she was scared herself. "Alia, your dad's been shot."

Widening my eyes, tears started to spill out but I tried so hard to keep my composure. Motioning towards the ambo, she nodded for me to go. "I got your stuff kid, your dad needs you".

Without needing anything else, I sprinted towards the ambulance the only thing on my mind being my dad. As I grew closer, panic was flying through the air as Voight was commanding officer on and off the walkie.

Helping me into the back ambulance, I looked at Voight through teary eyes. Shutting the door of the ambulance, I turned towards my dad. Grabbing his hand, I tried to keep my fear at bay. Glancing at the paramedic and seeing Sylvie, she gave a sympathetic look. "Your dad is a fighter Alia"

Scanning over my dad, he looked so vulnerable, helpless. The blood soaking through the shirts and bandages covering the gunshot wounds. Sitting there, I was absolutely terrified. Feeling the ambo come to a stop, I quickly jumped out to get out of the way.

Blinking rapidly to clear the tears and see what was going on, I caught sight of my Uncle who instantly rushed over to me. "Alia"

"Uncle Will". Throwing my arms around his torso, the ginger haired doctor brought me closer to him. Bending down, he wiped away the tears falling from my eyes.

"The best doctors are working on him right now. Your dad is in good hands".

I was in the waiting room, my anxiety starting to spike from not hearing anything. Uncle Will was helping my dad plus his other patients. Hearing the doors open, I lifted my head to see a flash of blonde come flashing in.

Standing up quickly, I wrapped my arms around Hailey, my anxiety, fear, worry all starting to come to the surface. Letting out a small sob, I buried my head in the female detective's neck. Arms wrapped around me, bringing me closer to them. "I got you sweetie"

Eventually calming down, I leaned on Hailey not exactly wanting to be alone with my thoughts. Holding my hand with hers, she rubbed her thumb along my knuckles softly, the motion soothing.

Will came out a few times to give us updates, but so far he was still critical and in surgery. "I'm scared Hailey". Lifting my head to look at her, she held this maternal look, one of compassion and calmness.

Gently wiping the stray tear that escaped from my eye, she rubbed my cheek. "Everything is going to be ok, your dad is one of the strongest people I know. With you in his corner, he is fighting so hard to get back to you".

Soon enough Intelligence came through the door, just in time for my uncle to come into the waiting room. Noticing my nerves, the blonde grabbed my hand as we stood up. "How is he"

Watching his eyes fart towards all of us, he nodded softly before giving a relieving look. "Jay is stable and out of surgery.  He will he in pain for a few weeks, but will make a full recovery".

Motioning for me to follow, I flicked my gaze to Hailey who nodded at me. "Go see your dad kiddo".

Following after my ginger haired uncle, we ventured through the ED and into an elevator. Walking towards my dad's room, Will and I started joking around about something stupid. We tried to lighten the mood knowing this whole situation was very depressing.

Upon entering the hospital room, my eyes wandered around the room to the beeping machines, and decorations that were in the room, before meeting my father's figure. The former ranger looking vulnerable and frail as he laid in the hospital bed.

Shuffling over to his side, I grabbed his hand wanting him to know I was there. Placing a kiss on his cheek, I turned towards Uncle Will. "Do you know when he is going to wake up"

"In a little while". Sending him a grateful smile, he shut the door before walking away. Sitting on the chair beside the bed, I kept my hand in his, not wanting to leave his side.
