My eyes shot open and I was immediately blinded by the desert sun. I took in a deep breath and coughed, the air was so dry. I felt the weight of something on my neck I looked down and saw I was wearing a necklace. It had a circular object attached to the end with three interlocking circles on it. I didn't dare open it for all I know it could have been a bomb just waiting to go off. I stood up and shook the sand of of my jeans. The white t-shirt I was wearing was wrinkled, but smelled oddly clean. I looked around I was nowhere. Sand dunes surrounded me for miles. How did I get here? The first thing that came to mind was water. If was going to survive out here I needed it. I decided it was best to move. I walked across those sand dunes for a few minutes at the most, but without water it felt like hours. I tried to shake the sand out of my sneakers, but it made no difference with every step I took my foot sank into the sand and they filled up again. I held the necklace in my hands the smoothness of the object comforted me in some odd way. I looked down at the symbol again those three interlocking circles it was something about them, but it wasn't comforting I felt fear when I looked down at them and I couldn't quite figure out why. I scanned the plains once more. Where was I going? I was in the middle of nowhere with no memory why even bother moving. I scanned the plains once more when I thought I saw something. Two something's they could have been dead animals having the same fate that I awaited or they could have been people whatever they were they weren't moving. I took my chances and began to walk towards them. They were people unconscious or dead. The first one I saw was a girl her hair was a beautiful golden blonde and her face was so beautiful almost like a doll's. She was dressed exactly like me jeans white wrinkled t-shirt sneakers except she was wearing a jacket. I lifted up the sleeve of the jacket and checked her pulse nothing she was dead. I went over to the next person a boy he looked vaguely familiar I had seen him before. I squatted down next to him he looked almost identical to the girl except for his hair which was several shades darker. I went to check for a pulse when he took a sharp intake of breath which almost made me trip over myself. His eyes shot open and he immediately looked at me. "Where am I?" he asked "And who are you."

"I...I don't know," I said answered shocked at how clean he looked. His white t-shirt looked like it had just been ironed his jeans were covered in sand, but not as much as mine were and his shoes looked completely new. He wore a jacket too and for the first time I noticed on the right breast pocket were those three interlocking circles. We both stood up simultaneously he was tall way taller than me at least. "We're definitely nowhere," he looking around then his eyes locked on the dead girl.

"But you really don't who you are?" I simply shook my head "What about you do you remember anything?"

"No, I don't even know my name," he looked down at my necklace "What's inside?" he asked.

"I don't know I was to afraid to open it here," I said handing it to him. He examined it staring down at those three circles. "I've seen these," he said rubbing his thumb over the engraved circles. He opened the object and a folded piece of paper fell out. "What's it say?" he asked. I unfolded it and it revealed six pictures. The top was a picture a girl who I guessed was me. I read aloud in all bolded letters "Lillian Grey experiment 3268 failed status deceased" I went down to the next picture it was the boy "Jay Henderson experiment 3269 failed status deceased."

"Wait so they think we're dead?" Jay asked.

"I guess, but what does it mean when it say's we're experiments?" He shrugged and I read on "Isabella Henderson experiment 3270 successful status alive." I looked at the picture it was the dead girl. "Wait," Jay said "Is she my sister?" We both turned around and looked at her. She looked peaceful maybe she had a quick death. "She must be," I looked up at him "Do you have any memories of her?" I asked.

"Nothing," he responded looking down at the ground "It's all just blank." I read on three more pictures. The fourth was a boy with blonde hair and brown eyes so dark they could have been black "Hunter Barnes Experiment 3271 failed status deceased," the next was a girl with auburn hair and green eyes next to her it read " Emily Grant Experiment 3272 failed status deceased." I looked up at Jay who was pacing thinking deeply still holding that compass in his hand. He didn't seem to be listening, but I still read aloud the last person a boy with black hair that made his icy blue eyes stand out "Leo Barnes experiment 3273 failed status deceased."

"Okay," Jay began still pacing "So let me get this straight we both woke up with no memory of how we got here or why and now we have some weird paper saying that we're failed experiments, but we're supposed to be dead and she," he pointed to Isabella "Is supposed to be alive, but there's still three of us out here in nowhere land, but still what does it all mean?" I flipped the paper over to the back "A letter," I said.

"What?" Jay asked.

"It's a letter," I began to the sloppy cursive aloud "Dear, my lovely daughter Lillian although you always did prefer prefer Lily. I don't have much time so I'll make this quick. I know you're scared, but if you use the compass I gave you and go east you'll find a small oasis with supplies that will last you at least a week. I'm sorry I couldn't do more, but there coming and I have to go. One more very important thing whatever you do, do not trust the boy named Jay Love your father Gregory."

"Put your hands where I can see them," Jay said his voice sounding more assertive. "Jay," I said in the calmest voice I had.

"Put them up!" he screamed "And turn around very slowly." I did as I was told already knowing what he had in his hands. "Jay put the gun down," He didn't he just held it there steady ready to shoot at me. "Please," I said backing up as far as I could. I looked down at Isabella had he killed her?

"I didn't kill her," Jay said bringing my attention back to him "But I do have orders to kill you." At that moment my instincts kicked in and I ran as fast as I could. I heard him take one shot, but he missed. He took another one which grazed my cheek, but I kept running. I made the mistake of looking back and tripped over myself. He was close to close to catching me. I stood up beginning to run again, but not before he tackled me to the ground. He  flipped me over so that we were face to face and before I knew it he hit me with the barrel of his gun and everything slowly went black like ink blotting on paper.
