"Kaylee!" a deep growl came from downstairs. I stop what I'm doing and begin to shake as I sit down onto the bed trying not to cry in terror.

"Coming Alpha," my voice shook as I stood up and prepared for him to come busting through the door. Moments later I hear his thundering footsteps coming towards the door. Closer. And closer.

"Come out here right now bitch," Alpha growls as he opens the door. I shiver and begin to cry. As I walk out of the room I don't look up, as I'm no supposed to look anyone in the eyes. I'm the pack's slave. I do whatever they want me to do, and if I don't? Well, they beat me. He leads me down the stairs as he begins to explain what we're doing.

"'You're going to be receiving 20 lashes," his voice seems to make me want to shiver more, "since you didn't obey Michael and his wishes." I cringe and began to cry harder.

"Shut up slut," he was about to slap me when someone came in and called his name. He was distracted for only a second and I was gone. I ran out the side door and changed. I ran as fast as I could to the north. It was the closest to our borders.

The memory flashes in my head as I run faster after hearing sharp barks and howls following me. Up ahead I see the river. The river is our northern boarder. Thirty miles past that was the Bloodlust Pack. They were vicious and ruthless to any that came into their boarders. But I was in my greatest need. Thats where I had to go. The Ashtail Pack wouldn't follow me there. I change my headings slightly so I can leap over a less wide part of the Aeredale River. It was an ancient river that had run even before our founder was born.

A few minutes later I run into the mighty river. It's swelled so wide I can't jump it. Hurriedly I scrambled down the rocks and leap into the thrashing water. It drags me towards the falls. I kick and struggle to keep my snout above the muddy water. After what seemed like forever I reached the other side and heaved my wet, heavy, dirty body out of the water. I shake out all the water and begin running towards the mountain.

My chest burned and ached, but I kept running. Fearing for my life. They wouldn't hesitate to kill me now.

After a few minutes of running I slow down to a quick trot. My tongue was hanging out and I was panting so loud that I feared they would find me. So I decided to lay down for a moment under a cool tree to calm down. There isn't much cover and I can't stay there for long though. My white, now dirty white, coat stuck out too much for the scenery of trees and brown dirt.

"Hey!" A wolf behind me snarled. I jump up and run. I don't know which direction I'm heading in but I just run. After a few seconds I hear a howl saying: "Don't go any further, there's a-"

The next pace I made I felt my paws hit nothing. I saw a waterfall to my left and the river a few hundred feet below me. Before I hit the bottom, everything turns black.
