Y/N P.O.V

I have always wanted to leave, to find far off places. I have been to so many before but my thirst for adventure isn't quenched. It's easy for my dad, Killian Jones. He is the infamous "Captain Hook" and I guess the nickname suits him. He has a hook where his left hand should be. It's always been there as far as I can remember. He said that this man, a coward, the "Dark One" cut it off as punishment.

My dad has always had a talent for spinning tales. I guess I inherit that from him. I loved to tell stories when I was younger, but now I just write them down instead of sharing them. One of my favorite stories my dad tells is of a boy. Not an ordinary boy but one who wouldn't grow up. He used to tell me how the boy would fly around an island and take care of all the creatures living on it. As I grew older, his story darkened. The boy began to steal children from their beds and bring them to the island. His island. Where they would be forced to stay or he would do unspeakable things to them. The boy was the actual bogey man and monster that haunted my dreams. Now that I'm 16, I don't get frightened easily.

"Land Ho!" One of the greasy, unbathed crew members yell, I look up and see we're docked off the coast of a big island with tons of forest.

I climb to the lookouts pit, on top of one of the wooden columns that holds sails. It has become my favorite place on the ship. When I'm not learning how to become a captain, I am up here staring off into the horizon. I sigh, I wish I could go off and explore on my own. My dad is overprotective but I can't blame him, he lost my mom right after I was born. I shrug off the thought as my dad yells for me.

"Y/N!" He shouts "Y/N?!? Where the bloody hell are ya las?" I look down and see him looking for me being followed by his shadow, Smee. Smee actually isn't a shadow but a clumsy man. He follows my dad around everywhere so I call him shadow.

I jump down, right in front of Smee and behind my dad. Smee jumps and I smirk at his reaction then turn to face my dads back.

"Right behind you, dad." I smile as he turns and he smiles as he sees me too.

"Las, I know you always go on our land trips with us but this time you can't." He is stern, almost like he is being serious.

"Haha dad, very funny." I turn away from him but he grabs my arm and faces me towards him.

"I mean it Las, no coming off this ship." He looks me dead in the eye. Oh no, he is serious.

"You can't be serious, dad!" I begin to whine, this is unfair.

"Aye Las you heard me, no getting off this ship and that's final." He shouts at me and he lets go of me.

I pout while they get everything ready to go to land. My dad kisses my forehead before jumping below into the side boats. He rows to land and is out of sight by the time I blink my eyes. I sigh and go back up to my lookouts post. I watch the birds fly over the sea and the sun begin to set. I watch as fire appears at the edge of the forest and watch the crew row back to the ship. My dad steps on board, looking frustrated. I climb down to confront him.

"Dad, is everything okay?" I walk behind him.

"Everything is fine Y/N, just go to bed or something las." He shrugs me off and walks into his cabin. I turn to Smee and pull him to the side.

"Smee, what is this island called?" I say as I point to the gorgeous forest.

"Oh dear, I thought you would recognize it from your dad's stories... It's Neverland." He says quietly then skips off to bed.

Neverland, like the island in those tall tales? Those thought up stories that made children behave themselves? I have to get on that island, just for a little while.

I skip off to my cabin and wait for everyone to fall asleep. I grab my satchel that holds my map, telescope, and my magic shell that connects me to my dad. It's mermaid magic, the shells are connected so when I speak into one of them, the other one will hear me. I quietly walk on to deck and try not to wake the crew who sleep there. Which is easy because most, if not all of them, are drunk anyway.

I climb into the side boat and row to land. And as soon as my feet hit the sand, I feel drawn to explore the dense forest, but part of me thinks to turn back. Not when you have come so far Y/N, don't waste your only chance of freedom to explore. I nod in agreement with myself, this is my only chance. So with one final look, I walk into the forest.
