Chapter Nine-Chelsea Smile:
You never know you've got something wrong with you, until someone tells you straight up. Or..at least until you overhear a doctor outside the door shouting "You what?! No! This girl is dangerous and delusional! She's not to come out of the strait jacket until you hear the specific orders from me and only me! She has another month before she's to start therapy!"
"Y-yes doctor, sorry doctor. I must've read the charts wrong. I'll fix it right now." The young nurse stuttered. "Damn right you'll fix it," sounded the doctor, his voice filled with impatience and annoyance.
I squeezed my eyes shut and banged my head lightly against the wall of the room. After a few moments, I realized that it was the beat to the song Chelsea Smile by Bring Me the Horizon. The lyrics ran through my head as I tried to escape the place where I currently was, blocking out the doctor's continuous yells and orders.
I've got a secret.
It's on the tip of my tongue.
It's on the back of my lungs.
And I'm gonna keep it.
I know something you don't know.
"What in God's name are you doing?" I heard spoken in a gruff voice from in front of me. I casted my gaze upwards, making eye connection with the doctor. I raised one eyebrow and kept quiet.
He rolled his eyes and sighed. "Never mind, that's not important. I need to ask you a few questions, and it would be very helpful if you answered them." His voice grew softer, yet still held a slight edge to it. I nodded, my throat suddenly going dry, words dying on the tip of my tongue.
I've got a secret.
It's on the tip of my tongue.
It's on the back of my lungs.
And I'm gonna keep it.
I know something you don't know.
The doctor, who's name I had no idea was, cleared his throat and hesitated a second before slowly bending his knees until he was crouched on the floor in front of me. Eyeing me cautiously as though I'd suddenly leap into action and kill him on the spot, he sighed once more.
"Well, Miss Greene..it's quite an odd predicament you've landed yourself in; you agree?" He asked, arching his eyebrow waiting for my response. I meekly nodded my head and let out a small, awkward cough.
"Do you have any memory of places or events other than ones held here?" The doctor asked. I knew where he was leading to. I prominently nodded my head, thinking of all the dismembered corpses.
"What are they of?" I glared at him and his stupid questions; I shrugged my shoulders though I know full well what they were of. He cleared his throat and shifted a little in his crouched stance, then leaned in closer and started talking in a hushed tone.
"Now, I'm not really supposed to be asking this. It's not in the protocol, rules, whatever. But; do you believe you're mentally unstable? Think about it for a while. Take everything you've thought, said, or done into account," he whispered quickly.
"I'll be back tomorrow and we'll continue our session, but I have an appointment right now. So please, think about my question and get back to me on it," The doctor said in a rush, leaving before I could even utter a word or nod. Hmm...he'll be back tomorrow?
Stretching out my arms and getting the kinks out of my sore muscles, I smiled to myself. Maybe if I had some sort of plan, I could get out of here now that the strait jacket is off. I wonder what the doctor meant when he talked to the nurse about me starting "therapy" in a month..
