The morning went by rather smoothly. With the exception of the looks and smirks I got from Jared's team mates. They must have had some idea about what was going on or what had almost happened this morning.
I just tried to avoid Jared in the halls. We did not have any classes together since he was a senior and I was a sophomore. Ashton and my brother, on the other hand were M.I.A. . That was nothing new. They sometimes just kept to themselves.
In 3rd period Calculus, the class I had with Jessica, my other best friend, I had trouble paying attention to what Mr. Thompson was saying. I kept passing note back and forth to Jessica. I had to get her up to speed on what was going on. She wasn't in school yesterday, and she missed cheer practice and all the drama.
Jessica was dating another one of Ben's team mates, Cody, so I was sure she had an idea of what was going in. Cody must've filled her in.
So we wrote to each other while Mr. Thompson, our calculus teacher, rambled on.
Me:
'He asked me to wear his jersey on game day and I just passed out! I am such a loser.'
Jessica:
'No you're not! It was just a reaction. You were shocked.'
Me:
'Yah but I still have to give him my answer! I have to think.'
Jessica:
'Don't you like him? What is there to think about? He is so hot and Cody says he REALLY likes you A LOT! Apparently he has liked you for a while, but would not make a move because of Ashton. No other girl has ever worn Jared's jersey on game day!'
Me:
'Because of Ashton?? Why because of Ashton?? What does he have to do with any of this?'
Jessica:
'You cannot say anything because Cody will kill me for spilling the beans!!!'
Me:
'You know I won't.'
Jessica:
'Ok well Cody says that Jared held back his feelings for you because Ashton wants you for himself. He has threatened all the guys not to pursue you. But something is holding him back. And Jared is tired of waiting.'
Me:
'PA-LEASE ! Ashton does NOT want me! First of all, he has all these bimbos all over him all the time. Not to mention JULIE!!! Second, he has NEVER and I mean NEVER shown any interest in me like that whatsoever! Cody has it wrong, trust me!'
(As I was writing this to her, I got the butterflies again hoping that maybe it could be true)
Jessica:
'Well, that's what Cody said. Why don't you just ask Ashton? Would it matter anyway? Do you like him?'
Me:
'I can't ask HIM if he likes me! Ashton is my brother's best friend! I'm sure it's not true. Maybe a misunderstanding or something.'
(I was hoping for the best...but expecting the worst)
Jessica:
'You still haven't said if you are interested in him.'
Me:
'I think I am.'
(WOW! did I just admit that out loud-or actually on paper?)
Jessica:
'ARE YOU SERIOUS??' Since when? Why have you not told me this before?!'
Me:
'I think I just figured it out now! Or I've been suppressing it, since he IS Ben's best friend. YOU CANNOT TELL A SOUL!!!'
Jessica:
' I won't. This is awesome!'
"Ladies, is there something you want to share with the class?"
Oh $hit! Get rid of the paper, get rid of the paper! I kept saying in my head.
"No Mr. Thompson! I was just showing Jessica another way to solve the problem that is written on the board. Sorry!"
"Very well, Miss. Armstrong. Now class, since I am feeling generous, you have the rest of class to get a head start on your homework for tonight. Get to it!"
"That was close! Quick thinking!"
"I know, right? By the way, Monica and I are going shopping for the Friday party after cheer practice. Want to come?"
"I would love to! Cody gave me a ride to school today, so could you guys drop me at home afterward?"
"Sure, or just have dinner at mine and I'll ask Ben to drop you off at home later."
"Done!" She said with a big smile.
And with that the bell rang dismissing us for lunch.
