SCARLETT

Although it had been a bit difficult for her to start completely from scratch, Scarlett was slowly getting her life back.

Her blue eyes seemed to shine just that much brighter, enough for Ella to notice and everyone around her too. This wasn't the only thing about her that had changed. She was more confident in herself, spending less time locked away in her room and more outside and talking and looking for better-paying jobs.

And this had all caused her to meet a boy, who went by Matthew Chambers. They hit it off immediately and only after a few days he asked her out, feeling so incredibly lucky to have met such a perfect and beautiful girl.

All in four months. Four months, such amazing things had happened to Scarlett.

She had practically forgotten about Sirius, and Hogwarts, and everything that she used to worry about far too much. For now, she had a job, Matthew, and an amazing roommate.

All was well.

But all just had to go wrong.

*~*~*

It had all seemed like a normal day to Scarlett. She called Matthew, arranged a date for the night, and had gotten ready for work.

When she entered the cafe that she worked at, she stopped short and stared at the figure that sat just a few tables away from the register.

Professor Dumbledore.

Her jaw dropped and she contemplated running, but when he looked at her she knew that she had no choice but to go sit.

And that's exactly what she did.

"What are you doing here?" She hissed.

He smiled- like it was all a game, like he hadn't just completely barged into the little bubble that Scarlett had lived in for five months now.

"I'm happy to see that you're speaking again."

She rolled her eyes.

"Well, when you're away from the thing that causes you pain for a while, then you usually tend to get out of it pretty quickly. What do you want?"

"We need you back at Hogwarts."

"Well too bad, because I live here now and I'm not leaving," she said menacingly.

Dumbledore's eyes twinkled as he sat up a bit straighter and looked at her.

"I wasn't asking."

Scarlett raised an eyebrow. This wasn't at all like the Dumbledore she had known, so it must've been dangerous.

"Can you come back tomorrow? I kind of have a date-"

"What's his name?"

"Matthew Chambers," she said, giving him a strange look.

Dumbledore looked surprised for a moment, but then his face went slack as he looked at her gravely.

"Scarlett, we must leave now before you go on that date with Mister Chambers."

"I can't just leave! I have a job, and a roommate, and a boyfriend-"

"Miss Dove, I'm afraid if you cannot cooperate, I might have to take extreme measures to make sure you and I both get out of this alive."

Scarlett looked stunned before nodding dumbly, not knowing what to respond. There was no point in arguing, or else he'd probably just knock her out and drag her unconscious body with him back to Hogwarts. Either way, it wasn't a choice, it was definitely an order that Scarlett was required to follow.

He got up and walked to a room in the back. Scarlett followed, and when they reached the room, he held his arm out. She grabbed it and felt the strange sensation of being pressed all at once in all different directions.

They were apparating.

*~*~*

Scarlett couldn't exactly be sure whether or not she had missed the giant place she had once called her home. But as she looked up at the castle and remembered the good memories she and the Marauders had once shared, tears welled up and she knew that she had definitely missed it.

"Do I really have to do this? Why?"

"All in due time, my dear, all in due time," Dumbledore said quietly, beginning to walk towards the school.

She followed a few feet behind him, her heart doing flips and her stomach clenching as they neared the school.

Was she ready? She had no idea. Would she go back into depression the moment she saw Sirius? She liked to think that she was far stronger than that now, but in reality, she really had no idea. He was her first love, and she probably would never forget the pain that he caused her. She'd have to concentrate a lot on not letting him get to her.

"How's Melissa?" She asked quietly.

Dumbledore looked back at her.

"Melissa?"

"Yeah, Sirius' girlfriend."

"I don't know what happened to Melissa, Scarlett. That's a question for Sirius."

Scarlett looked at him, realizing what he was trying to do. She wasn't stupid; it was obvious that he wanted them to make up and start talking again.

That wouldn't happen, she simply assumed.

"You can enter first," Dumbledore said, nodding at her.

She raised her eyebrows but pushed the doors to Hogwarts open. Everyone's eyes turned to stare at her and she grinned slightly.

"Well then," she whispered, "better prepare myself."

What she didn't know was that four boys in the back were also preparing themselves for what was about to come upon them.

Scarlett Dove wasn't a friendly person when she was mad.

Oh, she was anything but friendly.
