Scarlett was so, so wrong. Sadly, she realized this too late. Far too late. And now here she was yet again, in the Hospital Wing, oblivious to everything going on around her. She had enough time to rebuild her world.  And now she was lost. Gone, possibly forever.

Madam Pomfrey hoped not. This wasn't something that could be cured with magic; they tried that. They cast spells and did tests and experiments, but nothing, nothing helped Scarlett. They tried their best. It was time to let her go, they said. Allow for more room for the students who could actually be cured.

But Madam Pomfrey was a nurse who wasn't going to give up on Scarlett Dove.

And maybe that drive was exactly what was needed to save her.

*~*~*

The moment he walked into that classroom, Scarlett knew she was done for. She tried to get up in time to leave, but to no avail. He was already sat down. It was only going to be a few moments before she had a panic attack and slipped. Scarlett stood quickly and tried her best to get out of the classroom.

She was a moment too late.

She was too weak.

She didn't know what she had been thinking.

It had all been a stupid idea.

And now she was back to square one. The last place she wanted to be.

It was over for her and she knew it.

They didn't know she could hear them, talking about getting rid of her. Talking about how useless she was and how she needed to leave because she was just taking up space.

She heard all of it.

And she knew every last word was true.

*~*~*

Scarlett was waiting for them to lead her out of the castle. They all decided and took a vote that Scarlett had to leave the school. She wasn't doing any learning, she wasn't healing, she wasn't doing anything except taking up space. Madam Pomfrey and Dumbledore had been the only ones who voted against her leaving. But the majority always wins.

"Come on, Scarlett," Dumbledore said gently into her ear.

She stood up abruptly and turned, like a machine, following him out. It was for the best, she told herself. No one would have to deal with her. Her mood swings, her crazy thoughts, and, well, her. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't bring herself to believe it was truly for the best.

Of course, Scarlett knew that Dumbledore probably could've just let her stay anyway, no matter what the professors said. He was the headmaster, wasn't he?

She was sure he was only doing what he thought was best for the professors. The majority is the only thing that matters to anyone.

No one cared about what happened to the minority.

Scarlett was instructed to try and live her life as a muggle; get an apartment, a job, and forget about magic. It's not like she could use it. She was still underage and didn't even finish her education.

All because of a boy.

A boy who was many things to Scarlett.

Oblivious, a player, a jerk, rude.

But she also still loved him, in a way. She thought she was sick; loving a boy who completely broke her.

Maybe she was sick. In her own, special, Scarlett way. She was tired of it all. She just wanted to leave. Maybe she'd like life as a muggle. Simple. No magic wars, no stupid magic school, no nothing. She'd learn to forget about magic. To not care about it. And she'd like it.

Scarlett left willingly.

They gave her muggle money. A few hundred dollars to get herself some clothes, hopefully, an apartment, and a job.

She was educated enough, she assumed. It wasn't like she was completely oblivious to what calculus was. It would take a bit for her to get a good enough education for a good job, sure, but she would survive.

She would survive without Sirius Black.

The first step in her survival was an apartment. They let her pick where she wanted to live. She chose Japan. (hah hi home)

The flight was long, the timezone hard to get used to, and the apartments weren't the cheapest, but she found one.

She only had enough money for two months, and the apartment was four hundred thousand yen per month.

Scarlett had to 'trade' her American money for Yen, in order to get the apartment.

However, two months wasn't long enough. She found herself looking for a roommate. Eventually, after a week, she found one named Ella Lucille, an American girl who moved there after a fight with her family.

They got along well, and Ella had finished college and had a degree in medicine.

A month went by, and Scarlett had found a job at a cafe nearby. It payed around 1,300 yen an hour, which was good enough for her. (1,300 yen is about 13 american dollars)

Scarlett spent the time she had off work learning Japanese, to maybe get a job as a cashier at a popular store, or a translator.

Even as she slowly began to move on from Sirius Black, Scarlett Dove couldn't make herself completely regret waiting for the player.

Because now she had a new life. A new beginning. And it was all because of him.
