Didn't Fit

People looked at them and said they didn't fit. They weren't right together.

The girl with floral skirts, and thick rimmed glasses. The boy with a leather jacket and cigarette burns in his jeans.

But what did they know about what was right?

She studied her books, and he rode his motorcycle.

What was wrong with two different people fitting together like cut out puzzle pieces?

They had things to talk about, that was for sure.

She talked about astronomy, Galactic Tick Day was coming up. He talked about his dad's auto parts store, they were doing great buisness.

There was nothing wrong about them, they had decided. Maybe they didn't fit perfectly, but they fit in all the right spots and that's all that mattered to them.

She was careful, and trustworthy. He was rough around the edges, and spontaneous.

Together they made their own galaxy, and in that galaxy they did fit.

That was all that mattered.
