He avoided everywhere he knew she would have been. She was like a parasite he knew would infect him, that would make him sick. She tainted him- the color of light purple stained inside his brain. He was afraid someone would figure out he remembered the girl who was only a shadow inside everybody else's mind.

He felt something behind him and he turned around to see her standing there. Her eyes refused to meet his. Something deep in his chest grew from her being so close and it made him angry.
"What do you want?" He snarled at her, like he was the predator and she was the prey.

Her face was startled and she opened her lips and closed them before looking at him in the eyes, "I just wanted to say thank you."

She took off and vanished in the sea of bodies, leaving a trace of lilacs in her path. People around him gazed, as if he were crazy to be talking to empty air.
