AUTHOR'S NOTE -- on completion

NaNoWriMo is over. This means I can officially stop writing From the Deep. Even though I did not finish the 50,000 words of NaNoWriMo, or finish the story itself.

HOWEVER. I don't know if I actually want to stop writing. Because while I was posting this, something surprising happened -- people actually started readingthis story. This actually really surprised me, because I've never advertised this story and I actually kinda hoped no one would read it, because it is a NaNo story and FAR from my best work. But no, not only are a couple of people reading it, but I guess some people are actually enjoying it as well.

The world is a weird place.

So here's the thing. I'm marking this story as Complete, because that's what I do with stories that I no longer have any drive to keep working on. But that does NOT mean I'll stop updating. I will keep on writing, and adding chapters, and I'll see if I can get to the end. Because that would be another challenge for me. I've won NaNo plenty of times, so I don't really mind losing once, but I've never finished a novel outside of National Novel Writing Month. Let's see if I can achieve that goal, yeah?

And in the meantime, if you want updates from me, you can always go check out The Normals or some project that I actually want to be working on. :)

EDIT May 2nd, 2014

Updates on this story, if they happen at all, will not come before August. Sorry. Internet stuff. I'm trying.

EDIT December 1st, 2015

Updates on this story, if they happen at  all, will probably not come any time soon and certainly not at any specific time that I could name.

However! If you'd like to read a full, complete story that I wrote about mermaids, sea witches, and the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, click on the external link! It's a short story I wrote that won 2nd place in a contest, and so I'm really very proud.

Don't expect to find Andersen and Ian or anything -- From the Deep is rather sci-fi, while "Mermaid Tears" is more fantasy/magical realism -- but if you liked this novel, then I think you'll like this short story as well. You can find the other winners of the same contest by searching for the Ocean Trash Write-Away Short Fiction Contest held by Sapiens Plurum.
