It all started with... Hello

Chapter 5.

The cops didn't come quick enough, I met the intruder and wasn't surprised at all by who it was. He wasn't there to steal anything, no. He came for me. That's the day I saw his true colors and that's the day I started to fear for my sister's life.

It all made sense after that day. Why Lo always said she couldn't leave him, why she always looked so scared after they had a fight. Why she always blamed herself. I just couldn't believe that had been going on for so long and it took him breaking into my house for me to finally see it.

"Ana I know your outside, it just me. Your sister forgot something"

I hear Danny's voice echo from inside the apartment and I sigh in relief. It's not an intruder it's just him. Opening the door I set my purse down and walk into the living room

"You scared the crap out of me, next time call me before you come over please" I say, once I find Danny

"Will do" he says smiling.

"What did she forget? I thought we grabbed everything-"

My sentence is cut off by a sharp smack to my face, Danny grabs me by my arms and pushes me up against the wall "if you ever try to come in between your sister and I's relationship again I'll fucking kill you." He seethes "do you understand?"

I nod my head, to terrified to form a sentence.

He chuckles and shakes his head "I don't think your fully comprehending the situation here"

The air is knocked out of my lungs when he throws me to the floor. I begin to think that the worst is over, but then his foot comes down and kicks me in my stomach. I yelp in pain and try my best to protect myself. "P-pleas-se s-sto-op"

Another kick and that one cause me to cough up blood. My head is spinning and I'm shaking. This is how I'm going to die... beaten to a pulp in my living room. I close my eyes and start to pray, pray that my sister isn't the one who finds my body.

"ANA!" He screams my name and I flinch "look at me"

I obey, too afraid of what he'll do if I don't listen. When my eyes focus I find him sitting on top of me, my body crushed in the middle of his legs. Tears stream down my face when his hands start touching me.

"Your going to leave us alone, Lo doesn't need you anymore, got it?"

I nod

"This is only a warning, if you don't heed this warning I will come for you and nothing will protect you from me" his hands slowly travel underneath my shirt and I close my eyes. "Your a beautiful woman Ana, I've always thought so. Your so much prettier than your sister"

I cry out when he hovers over top of me, his face only inches away from my own. "I bet your a better fúck too-"

A loud knock on the front door interrupts his actions. "Police open the door!"

Relief washes over me. Thank you god.

Danny looks at me with disgust "this isn't over" he seethes "your going to get up and do exactly as I say or I'll slit your sisters throat."

A new kind of fear runs through me when his threat sunk in. As soon as he goes home Lo will be there, she'll be all alone with him.

When he gets off of me I do everything he says.

"Answer the door and tell them it was a false alarm, I'm your brother in law and you forgot I was coming over."

"What about my face?"

He grabs me and drags me to the front door "your a klutz, now answer it"

With shaky hands I answer the door "hello ma'am we're were called to check up on a possible intruder, is everything alright?"

I nod and smile "it was a false alarm, I apologize. I forgot my brother in law  was coming over."

The cop lady furrows her eyebrows "your brother in law broke into your apartment ma'am?"

"My sister must have given him the key, she forgot her phone the other day when she was here"

The cop nods and looks around behind me, she whispers "if there is someone in the house blink twice ma'am"

I shake my head and lie "there is no one, I'm sorry for the inconvenience officer"

That was one of the moments I wish I could have changed. I should have told them what he had just done to me. Danny would have been locked up, me and my sister would have been safe.

But at the time I was petrified, he not only hurt me, he also threatened to kill Lo if I had disobeyed him. I didn't see a way out of the situation back then. To me, listening was the only way to keep her safe.

God I was so wrong.
