Once when we were young
we gave no thought to passing time
for we were eternal
and we made eternal bondsWhether our worlds
were filled with love
or dark in its depravity
we sang a song
nobody else couldUntouched harmonies
issued from unrestrained
and untainted places
that we think now
we must have imaginedFor those who dream yet
of those magics
are given scorn and shame
in this heartbroken world
where we languish
in the denial
of who we were thenAnd the farther we slip
away from that vision
the more difficult it becomes
to regain it at allHow do we fight a world on fire?
Why do we allow them
to ridicule the best thing
we ever had?Does this bond we made
at the beginning
still hold?Or has it also
just grown too old?
