If You Could

If You Could

I wished for  this;

I got what I asked for.

But you I missed

as soon as you walked out my door.

I fell on my knees

and cried out to you,

But you weren't there

when you know that you should.

I wished for time,

but I didn't get what I wanted.

It's crazy how your mind

changes before you understand it.

I laid on my back 

and tried to think of you,

But you werent there

when I know you should.

I wished for love

But I was in over my head

when heaven above

brought me something else instead.

I closed my eyes

and dreamed of you,

and you were there

like I knew you would.

I wished for you

and I got what I wanted.

You came back from the dead

and wanted me.

I opened my mouth 

and spoke to you.

You opened your arms to reach out to me

and then I knew;

You'd stay with me here

if you could.

A/N: This poem goes out to everyone who's lost a person close to you. It may seem impossible now, but trust me when I say the pain gets better. :)
